GAME PREVIEW Your Halifax Mooseheads (3-4-1-0) are back on home ice tonight at Scotiabank for the first time in 11 days after a road trip to Cape Breton last weekend. The Herd split the two games with the Eagles and finished it off with a 10-2 blowout win last Saturday night. Halifax equaled a franchise record with seven goals in the third period, a record that was originally set in 2003 vs Rimouski. Tonight, the Mooseheads play host to the (1-4-0-0). The Cats have struggled to score goals this and have found the back of the net just nine times in five games played. The suffered a pair of losses last weekend by falling 4-2 at home against Acadie-Bathurst and dropped a 4-1 decision in Charlottetown on Saturday.

SCOTTY’S 3 WHOPPERS OF THE GAME READY FOR SOME GRAVY? #1 is back. Goalie finished his 14-day quarantine over the weekend and rejoined the Mooseheads at practice on Monday. He is now available for game action for GM Cam Russell and Head Coach J.J. Daigneault. The 20-year-old searched for professional options after going unsigned by the Blackhawks but was unsuccessful mainly in part to the lack of operational leagues during the pandemic. Gravel is second all-time in franchise wins with 82. No goalie has made more saves in team history than Gravel who has stopped 4,650 shots in his four-year career. The team will carry three goalies for the time being with Gravel joining Cole McLaren and Brady James on the roster.

YOUTH MOVEMENT It’s a small sample size but the rookies have been incredibly impressive for the Mooseheads already this season. Coming into tonight, Halifax rookies hold the top four spots in QMJHL rookie scoring with Jordan Dumais, Markus Vidicek and James Swan leading the way with seven points each followed by Bobby Orr who has five points. Dumais could have easily been named the first star in Saturday’s thumping of the Eagles as he had four assists and was one of the best players on the ice. He has played on a line with Elliot Desnoyers & Zachary L’Heureux in every game. Swan and Vidicek have created some nice chemistry while playing with 20-year-old Liam Peyton and Orr has mainly played center on the third line and has shown his excellent skating ability among his other talents.

THIS GUY IS GOOD To say Elliot Desnoyers is getting noticed would be an understatement. Since the Mooseheads are among the few teams North America playing hockey right now, he has picked a great time to get hot. With a legion of Philadelphia Flyers fans now paying attention, Desnoyers has scored 12 points in the first eight games of the season. The recent Flyers draft pick quickly climbed the league scoring leaders list after a huge night on Saturday when he scored four goals. That feat garnered all sorts of attention on social media and earned him the QMJHL Player of the Week Award. His six goals this season has him halfway to his career high of 12 set in his rookie season.
