There are two main types of calendars that we use- Gregorian and Saka. • The calendar that we use commonly is the Gregorian Calendar. The use of this calendar began in 1582 in Europe. • The dates are calculated from the date of the birth of Jesus Christ. • The Gregorian Calendar also fixed 1 January as the first of the year. Saka Calendar: • The saka calendar is the official calendar of India. • It is used along with the Gregorian Calendar and lists the religious, ceremonial, festive or the auspicious days of India. • The Saka calendar starts from the 78th year of the Gregorian Calendar.

Time lines: • Timeline displays events in the order in which they took place. • Timelines help us to understand . • The arrangement of events in the order or sequence of their occurrence is called a Chronological order. • BC or Before christ refer to the period before Jesus Christ was born. It is also known as BCE (Before Common ) • We count the before the birth of christ backwards. After christ's birth ,we count the years forward. • AD comes from the Latin words meaning ‘in the year of our Lord'. • It refers to the years since the birth of Christ up to the time. It is also known as CE ().
