The Countess of Wessex’s visit and Paddlers Park funday The Ambler was delighted to receive several very well written reports on the Countess of Wessex’s visit to Amble, from pupils in Year 4 at Amble First School. Well done to everybody. Here’s is an extract from Lyla Smith’s report. n Wednesday 20th of April everybody at Amble first OSchool went down to the Paddlers. We left at 10:30 to get there in time. When we got there we were very early so everybody was sunbathing. It was a very hot day with no clouds at all. Our teacher (Mrs Forsey) said that we could go and check out the Paddlers so off we went. The water was amazing. You could open little water gates, water pumps and watch it go down the hill into the drain. There was also a table tennis set with three spare balls. You could play two vs two. Puffins were painted on the ground, along with hop scotch, stars, shapes and swirly lines. If you climbed to the top of one of the rocks you could see the lovely blue sea with white bubbles everywhere. Then Youngsters enjoying the new equipment at the Paddlers Park funday at the end of April. See also Artograffi’s report, centre pages. I saw Coquet Island! Mrs Brown gave out flags to wave at Sophie the Countess of Wessex, the Duchess of Northumberland and the Mayor of Amble. There was a big crowd near the water pump so I went to check it out. It was Sophie, the Countess of Wessex! She was wearing a lovely white skirt and jacket with silver buttons. Her beautiful golden hair was all clipped up. Mrs Forsey told us all to go up on the grassy hill to wave our flags. It was a steep hill which meant a steep walk. It felt like we were walking up Mount Everest! Everybody was waving and cheering to all of the important people. In the future I think the Paddlers Park is going to be extraordinary!
