Antelope Valley College (AVC) is in the city of Lancaster and held its first classes in 1929 as an extension of Antelope Valley Joint Union High School in Lancaster. AVC has responded to the needs of south valley residents and growth by establishing a Palmdale site. Dedicated to meeting the dynamic needs of a changing community, the college recognizes that it is uniquely capable of responding to the requirements of regional business, industry and public service, as well as the social and cultural needs of the Antelope Valley. AVC is now hosting upper division and graduate level programs offered by State University, Bakersfield, with its own satellite campus at AVC’s Lancaster campus.
