ARBITRATION
I have acquired an important expertise in the adjudication of sports‐related arbitration disputes, both as counsel to parties, and as arbitrator. This arbitration experience has led me to successfully argue before the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the 2002 Olympic Games, in order to resolve the much‐publicized ice skating Salé‐Pelletier corruption affair. In 2007, I was appointed Chair of the arbitration panel that ultimately banned American cyclist Floyd Landis for a period of 2 years. In this role, I was coordinating evidence admissibility, ruling on numerous matters, and establishing strict media rules for this much publicized public hearing.

Patrice Brunet 5 [email protected] ITU GOALS – CONSTITUTION COMMITTEE
2012‐2016
As Chair of the Constitution Committee for the past 16 years, I have led the committee through various reforms and rewrites of the By‐Laws and Constitution.
The task of the committee is to coordinate the workings of its elected members, through the executive board‐appointed member of management.
Its purpose is to ensure a smooth overview of the drafting and review of the Executive Board’s policies, as well as Congress’ resolutions, for insertion into the Federation’s official Constitution.
I am prepared to continue serving in this position and to execute on the Executive Board’s instructions, as envisioned in the By‐Laws’ definition of the role of the committee.
My role as an arbitrator with the Court of Arbitration for Sport and the Canadian Sport Dispute Resolution Centre, as well as my involvement with ITU and the Canadian Olympic Committee for nearly 20 years, have provided me with a unique insight and understanding into the complex world of international Olympic sport.
I place this knowledge and insight at the service of the ITU, should they choose to re‐ elect me to this position for the upcoming term.
