Welcome! New Anti-Harassment Case Manager WEPO welcomes Sharon Rice-Hicks as an Acting Anti-Harassment Case Manager for a 120-day detail. Sharon serves as an EEO Specialist and Litigation Liaison with the FS, Office of Civil Rights. She previously served as an EEO Specialist with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights, Employment Investigation Division. Sharon also previously served as a federal Judicial Law Clerk, a contract EEO Investigator, contract EEO Counselor, and contract Final Agency Decision Writer. She attended Howard University and the University of Baltimore School of Law and is a licensed attorney in the District of Columbia and South Carolina.

*New* Foundations of Leadership Program Accepting Applications The Foundations of Leadership Program is a new tuition-free leadership development program for employees in GS Grades 3-8 offered by WEPO Training and Employee Development. In this 12-week virtual pilot program, participants will increase their personal leadership skills to positively affect their career in the Forest Service, complete mission work, and influence decisions. They will have the opportunity to build relationships with fellow participants across the agency and develop helpful partnerships. The cohort will meet weekly with agency leadership guest speakers. The program also includes online courses, reading assigned materials, watching videos, posting and responding to blog prompts, and maintaining a journal. Optimizing the Body and Mind: Nine Weeks of Self Care

Wednesday, February 10th, will be week five of the course, but you can register and join at any time throughout the course. This week will be looking at injury prevention. What are important physical and psychological factors that can affect health as you integrate exercise and movement? We will also explore each of our own current states and what will be best for each of us this week. We will also do a self-check-in to assess where you are mentally, emotionally, and physically and what you feel you can take on based on what is going on in your life at the moment. We have scarcely faced a more challenging time for ourselves as we move through the pandemic and recover from other natural disasters. Some of us are at a breaking point, and others have more time than they did pre-pandemic. In either case, our ability to take time for our own self-care and personal development is critical to how we show up for ourselves and others. Course Overview: • Discover your body’s natural response to stress and formulate a unique plan to help you address stressors at work and home. • Using movement or exercise, nutrition, motivation, psychological tips and tricks to find ways to deal with obstacles and challenges that you might be facing. • Create and reinforce healthy habits that work for you. • Each session will be led by our team of credentialed experts in exercise physiology and performance psychology.
