Resolutions from the Annual Wardmotes

To be presented on Thursday, 25th May 2017

To the Right Honourable The Lord Mayor, Aldermen and Commons of the in Common Council assembled.

The Resolutions from the Annual Wardmotes are set out below for the consideration of the Court:-

From the Ward of “That this Wardmote deplores the state of broadband connections for both residential and existing business customers and requires the Corporation to take urgent action to address this.”

From the Ward of (i) “That the Ward of Dowgate, mindful of the impact of the Bank junction safety project on the adjoining streets (especially Cannon Street), wishes to receive assurances from the City of London Corporation that the impact of the temporary traffic scheme at Bank junction will be properly assessed and monitored in accordance with the modelling that led to the scheme being agreed, and that it will report fully and openly to the residents and businesses of the Ward of Dowgate upon the impact six months after the scheme is implemented.”

(ii) “That the Ward of Dowgate expresses concern about the continued poor air quality in the Ward (and across the City) and asks the City of London Corporation to redouble its efforts to reduce the poor air quality and to report to the Ward of Dowgate on the progress of its programme of works within six months with comparative information from air quality readings.”

From the Ward of Portsoken (i) “That we, the inhabitants of the Ward of Portsoken in the City of London wish to voice our dismay at the cowardly assault today in the vicinity of the House of Commons and wish to express our heartfelt sympathy with the Families and Friends of those cruelly affected by the attacks. It is further resolved that the text of this resolution should be forwarded by the Honourable Ward Clerk to the Leader of the House of Commons.”

(ii) “That the Grand Court of Wardmote shall, in future, be required to report back to the Elected Representatives of the Ward within 3 months of the next Grand Wardmote following the Wardmote at which the resolution has been passed.”

(N.B. Following their consideration at the Grand Court of Wardmote, these Resolutions have informally been referred to officers of the relevant Service Committees, so as to assist them in responding without delay following their formal consideration by the and its relevant Committees.)
