Former LPGA Tour player Jody Niemann-Dansie is the newest member of the University of Arizona coaching staff, having been named women’s golf assistant coach on July 3, 2002. Niemann-Danise, who has more than 10 years of experience as a player and coach, played one season on the LPGA tour and one season on the SBC Futures Tour. A three-time All-Pac-10 selection at Arizona State, Niemann-Dansie was the 1999 USGA Public Links Champion. She was runner-up in events in events in Michigan and California in 2000 on the SBC Futures Tour, the same tour that former Wildcat standout Lorena Ochoa starred on in 2002, and earned her LPGA Tour card after finishing 23rd out 243 players at the Tour Qualifier. She played in 22 events on tour from 2000-2001 before moving to her most recent position as an independent instructor at the Fiesta Inn Resort in Tempe. “Playing in the Pac-10 Conference, I know the program at Arizona is a great one,” Neimann-Dansie said. “I’ve known Greg (Allen) for quite some time and I’m excited for the opportunity to work with him and the Wildcat program.” As a junior golfer she was named an AJGA All-American four times from 1991-1994 and was the Idaho high school state champion in 1992 and 1995. She owns seven course records in Idaho and one in Montana. “We’re excited to have Jody join the Arizona program,” Allen said. “She comes from a winning program and was mentored by legendary coach Linda Vollstedt. She has enjoyed a successful playing career in the junior ranks, collegiately and professionally, and will be an asset both with the current team and in future recruiting.” Niemann-Dansie is a graduate of Arizona State and was a member of the 1997 and 1998 NCAA Sun Devil national championship golf teams in Tempe. Now in her tenth year with the UA Department of Athletics, Pat Herrera has been the office specialist for both the men’s and women’s golf programs since 1994. She is responsible for much of the administrative paperwork and travel coordination for both programs. A native Tucsonan, Herrera has also served in a similar capacity with the Wildcat baseball program since joining the UA Department of Athletics in 1992. A former model and pageantry queen, Herrera is also an accomplished artist, specializing in Native American subjects.
