Children of the American Revolution A dance followed the Awards ceremony and all the parents were “sent to bed” at 10pm while the kids took over the room and State Conference March 14-15 have a dance and fun time until midnight. The Maryland Society Children of the American Revolution held its 66 th Annual State Conference at the Sheraton BWI Hotel in Linthicum Maryland. Friday night was the traditional Pizza Party CAR-DAR-SAR History Triad Social which allows the kids to have fun and get to know each other in an informal session. Saturday morning was the board meeting in which the kids presented their reports and had a visit from Hootie the Owl of “Give a Hoot, Don’t Pollute” fame. All members voted for their new officers even the youngest who could not read were helped with voting by photographs of the candidates. Austin Knapp was elected State President.

Members of the Maryland SAR attended and participated in the Annual History Triad with the CAR and DAR. It was a fun afternoon of questions about Maryland history and the American Revolution. We need more SARs to participate. Mark your calendar for Jan. 2009!

In the afternoon a fun trip was made to the Baltimore Zoo for a Massing of the Colors at Annapolis scavenger hunt. Saturday night was the Spectacular Awards Night Dinner and each of the kid’s were able to accept various awards for their Chapter’s activities.

SAR Medal of Appreciation President Ernest Irish attended the dinner and presented the SAR Medal of Appreciation to incoming Sr. State CAR President Maureen Tipton for her years of service to the Maryland SAR.
