WWW.DUDHWANATIONALPARK.ORG NATIONAL BOOK POST 2020-21 ENVIRONMENT SCIENCE CAMP AMAZING WINGZ a peep into the world of

Dudhwa Tiger Reserve located in the Himalayan is unique for its diverse landscape and bio- diversity. The objective of N E V S Camp at Dudhwa is to kindle sensitivity for Mother Nature. While, this may be possible through a stroll in the woods, but how do we bond with wildlife? Whether a tiger or a snake, it is dificult to spot them in their natural habitat because they are so wellcamoulaged.

Perhaps the best method to sensitize people about wildlife is get kids hooked to birdwatching. At Dudhwa, there are more than 400 of birds and at scenic Jhadi Tal wetland, at any moment in time, nature lovers can savor the sight of innumerable birds (as also big herds of swamp deer) splashing and frolicking in water. Scheduled in 2021, National Environment Science Camp, is dedicated to Birds or Master Aviators. Mentored by experienced members of Karavan team, campers embark upon several exciting missions (called DARES) to peek into the world of birds.

The very irst dare CIB, is a discovery of birds like: babblers, bulbuls, mynas, doves, warblers, owlets and host of others that lit around our homes and neighborhood, yet we somehow fail to notice them. The next dare TERA-X pertains to endangered ; a fortuitously re-discovered at Dudhwa after a gap of almost ifty years. On the subsequent day, at Dare BIRD COUNT, campers visit the majestic Jhadi Tal wetland to conduct a count of migratory waterfowl: coots, pintails, crested pochards, shovellers andgadwalls; this exercise enables ornithologists understand the of wild ducks and health of their habitat. National Environment Science Camp 2020-21 is dedicated to Birds or Master Aviators.

The objective of other dare, V 4 Victory, is to provide an insight into phenomenon of bird migration; wherein birds endure arduous lights spanning an arc of earth.

During the dare TWEET-TWEET, campers venture into deep forest to record bird calls. Sal forests in Dudhwa are so dense that mostbirds are tracked by their calls: Great Indian Hornbill, Forest Owl and Crested Serpent Eagle being a prized catch.

On the fourth day at N E V S Camp at Dare Expedition, campers raise bamboo and grass hides to photograph and document rare birdswith stealth of a fox and ingenuity of a hunter. Birds too are threatened by human activity, especially mechanized farming and use of excessive fertilizers. Is it, thus, possible to convince the Indian farmers to conserve birds? Can something, useful, be done for the conservation of this amazing life form? This is dare HUL, the inal dare for our campers.

On behalf of the Karavan team, I cordially invite your school to National Environment Science Camp 2021 at Dudhwa, an ideal place to marvel at Mother Nature and admire its creation adorned with Amazing Wingz NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT SCIENCE CAMP
