Local Area Priorities

2012—2013 Review

The Local area covers the Gerrards Cross, , and Denham areas.

During 2012/13, the county councillors in the Gerrards Cross Local Area allocated funding to a number of projects to address the priorities of the local area. Some of these are set out in the following pages.

The projects were undertaken using the Local Priorities budget from County Council.

Tools for Gerrards Cross Common Conservation Volunteers

A group of volunteers have been helping to maintain Gerrards Cross Common since 2004. They carry out a number of tasks including clearing holly, exposing hard wood trees and ensuring that the ~footpaths are kept clear for people to continue to use. Through the Parish Council, the volunteers re- quested funding from the Local Priorities Budget to purchase tools that would assist them with this maintenance. The local councillors agreed to provide £1000 towards the cost of tools for the volunteers. The Parish Council had already agreed to provide £2000. The volunteers purchased a number of items of equipment that would help them implement the management plan for the common and ensure the continued use by local residents.

Improving facilities at King George’s fields

£6695 was allocated from the Local Priorities Budget to improve the facilities in and around King George’s Fields in Fulmer.

Funding was provided for: a storage container for sports equip- ment as there was no where to store pieces of equipment; resurfacing of the driveway used to access the allotments and children’s play area which had degraded; and refur- bishment of the decked area at the front of the pavilion which had started to rot and become difficult to walk on.

Denham Village Memoprial Hall

£5000 of funding from the Local Priorities Budget was allocated towards the costs of refurbishing the kitchen in Denham Village Memorial Hall. This was matched with £2700 from the committee

The existing kitchen facilities were not suitable for most users of the hall. Funding from the local priorities budget has contributed towards the costs of updating the kitchen facilities and making it a more user-friendly environment. It is anticipated that this will encourage more people to use the facility.
