DSA WEEK SEVEN This year’s theme for the Diocesan Services Appeal comes from St. Paul: “See that you also excel in the grace of giving” (2 Corinthians 8:7). Queens has excelled in giving thanks to many of you who have already made a gift to DSA 2016. We still need another $42,260 to reach our goal of $157,633. To date, Queens has received pledges of $115,374 from 399 donors, putting us at 73% of goal with 25% of the parish participating. We need to hear from the remaining 1,211 of our registered households. The average gift is $289. We are ahead of last year’s pace in giving, number of donors and the average gift size! Thank you to all If 25% of the parish can get us to almost 75% of our goal, then it should be no problem for 75% of the parish to donate the last 25%! JACKSON AREA CATHOLIC COUNCIL ON AGING MEETING Tuesday, April 12, 10:30 a.m. St. John the Evangelist Parish Hall “Reclaiming Our Catholic Identity” Speaker is our own Parochial Vicar, Father John Whitlock We, as Catholic , are cele- brating Easter. Beginning with Ash Wednesday and the 40 days of the Lenten Season, we have spent time in prayer and fasting. On Ash Wednesday ashes in the form of a cross were placed on our fore- heads with the words: “Repent and be- lieve in the Gospel.” The reception of ashes, symbolizing the dust from which God made us and to which we shall re- turn, is one way we identify ourselves as Catholic Christians. Now that we have spent 40 days repenting of our sins and have participated in Holy Week remem- bering and reliving what Jesus has done for us, how do we live out our Catholic nature? How do we live out the Gospel message in today’s world? Please bring an item for the Personal Needs & Linen Closet at Catholic Chari- ties of Jackson, Hillsdale and Lenawee Counties.

SPEND AN HOUR IN THE ADORATION CHAPEL

EUCHARISTIC DEVOTIONS Please consider signing up for one hour a week in our Adoration Chapel. Starting the habit of weekly prayer time has many rewards. It will change you in many ways, and you will soon wonder how you lived without it.

Our chapel provides an atmosphere where you can have quiet conversation with God, read the or other available spiritual reading material, and concentrate on your own favorite prayers and devotions. We currently have available these urgent hours (when no one is commit- ted to being present for adoration): Urgent Hours Sunday—11 a.m. Friday—4 a.m. Saturday—11 p.m. When considering your choice of an hour to spend in adoration, please think about one of the ”Would Like a Partner” times listed below. Partners help ensure that all hours are covered, when one part- ner has a conflict, which does not allow them to attend their prayer hour. Middle- of-the-night substitutes are greatly needed and appreciated. BHQ74T Would Like a Partner Sunday—5 p.m. Monday—1 p.m. Friday—10 a.m. Friday—7 p.m. Saturday—10 a.m.

If you can help with one of these PALLET PAINTING PARTY hours, please call Mary Jo at 517-748-7342.
