This walk starts on Walton Well Road in Jericho, Oxford. There is a public car park here that charges £2 for a 3 - 5 hour stay. You can use this QR code that contains the geo location of the car park.

Turn left on leaving the car park, in front of you is the gate into Port Meadow. To the right of the gate is a map of Port Meadow with some interesting facts about the history of the site. Follow the path straight ahead after you walk through the gates, look out for horses and cows that graze on the meadow most of the year.

At the end of the path you will come to a small bridge, on the right there is a boat yard. Cross over the bridge, at the other side of the bridge turn right.

Follow the path till you come to the next bridge. Cross over the bridge, at the other side of the bridge turn right.

Follow the path straight ahead, you will eventually come to a sign post pointing to the location of the first pub, The Perch Inn, a 17th Century thatched Inn, with a French theme to the menu. Opening hours are Wed-Sat Kitchen 12-3:30pm & 6:30-9:30pm Bar 12-11pm, Sun Kitchen 12-4pm & Bar 12-5pm. Mon-Tue CLOSED. You can use this QR code that contains the geo location of the pub. There is also a car park at this pub, that can be access from Botley Road (A420). Attraction -

On leaving the pub, return to the sign post and continue following the path, soon you will come to Godstow Lock. This is a working lock, if you hang around long enough you may see it in action.

Attraction - Remains of Godstow Abbey

On leaving the lock continue following the path, soon you will arrive at the remains of the 12th Century Godstow Abbey, today only the outer walls and remains of a chapel survive.

Continue past the remains of Godstow Abbey, until you come to a country lane, turn right onto the lane and head over a small bridge The Trout, a 17th century pub is on your right. The Trout featured in several Inspector Morse episodes. Opening times are Mon-Sun 11am till 11pm, Kitchen opens from 12. Last food orders are Mon-Thur 10pm, Fri-Sat 10:30pm and Sun 9pm. This is a great place to try a traditional English Sunday Roast.This is very popular pub and can get very busy in the summer, so make sure you get there early if you are staying for food.
