(2) Condemns the Government for altering the frequency of the Gosford shuttle bus and adjusting it as a paid service. P 2728 BERESFIELD SWIMMING POOL OPERATING TIMES MS SONIA HORNERY to move— That this House: (1) Notes that Newcastle City Council has reduced both the length of season and the operating hours of Beresfield swimming pool. (2) Notes that the season has been shortened by eight weeks to 20 weeks with reduced operating hours, including limiting weekend hours from 8 am until 2 pm for part of the season. (3) Notes that these decisions will have a deleterious impact on the operation of school water safety classes, swimming proficiency programs and Beresfield Swimming Club activities. (4) Urges the Minister for Local Government to contact the Lord Mayor of Newcastle to seek his assurance that the season duration and operating hours at Beresfield will be consistent with Mayfield, Wallsend and Stockton swimming pools.

(3) Acknowledges that Mr Garling has lobbied the WorkCover Authority to print the contact details of the Independent Review Office on every document sent to injured workers. 2733 URALLA LAND CLEAN UP PROJECTS MR ADAM MARSHALL to move— That this House: (1) Congratulates Uralla Shire Council, the Armidale Local Aboriginal Lands Council and the Environmental Protection Authority on partnering for two projects in Uralla to clean up the old Kentucky landfill site and the west end of Uralla. (2) Notes that more than 36 tonnes of waste material, including asbestos, was removed from these sites creating great environmental and social outcomes for the Uralla community. (3) Acknowledges the leadership and contribution of Michael Brogan and June French from the Armidale Local Aboriginal Lands Council, local Elders, and Kath Little and her team from Uralla Shire Council to these projects, showing how collaboration can achieve great outcomes.

P 2743 OZHARVEST FOOD SERVICE MS SONIA HORNERY to move— That this House: (1) Congratulates OzHarvest in Newcastle, which has delivered food for 1.6 million meals to 70 charities and refuges in the Hunter region since 2010. (2) Notes that in the process, the 30 OzHarvest volunteers and scores of donors have saved more than half-a-million kilograms of leftover food from landfill. (3) Calls on the Government and all Members to recognise the win-win nature of this service by supporting OzHarvest wherever possible and encouraging its spread beyond major cities.

(2) Notes however, that Hunter New England Health figures show 2,467 Hunter patients were still on the waiting list for an assessment at the end of July, and 1,988 were on the waiting list for treatment. (3) Urges the Minister for Health to ensure continued reductions in these waiting lists so Hunter residents can access timely treatment and avoid discomfort and complications.

(2) Notes that a District Court judge has complained on many occasions about this shortage which he refers to as a chronic problem. (3) Notes that the number of sheriff's officers in Newcastle has almost halved over the past 10 years, reductions which are reflected in sheriff offices throughout the Hunter Region. (4) Calls on the Attorney General to urgently address this issue in the interests of safety for court users and workers, and to facilitate the smooth and timely consideration of court cases.

2911 SEVERN RIVERS REHABILITATION PROJECT MR ADAM MARSHALL to move— That this House: (1) Congratulates Inverell Shire Council on its successful Severn River Rehabilitation Project to stabilise the river bank and improve the fish habitat just north of Ashford. (2) Pays tribute to project manager Brian Clancy and Sarah Priest of Gwymac on their work with the students of Ashford Central School, who, in December, planted hundreds of trees along the river bank. (3) Thanks and acknowledges Mick Lewis, Principal of Ashford Central School, school staff and Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 students for their involvement and interest in this important community project.

2912 TAFE ILLAWARRA FACE-TO-FACE TEACHING TIME MS NOREEN HAY to move— That this House: (1) Calls on the Government and the Minister for Education to stop the proposed cuts to TAFE Illawarra's face-to-face teaching time for its apprentice electricians to make up a budget blow out of $1000 per student. (2) Notes that under the changes electrical trades apprentices will spend 30 days in the classroom this year, a 16 per cent reduction on last year. (4) Further notes teachers' concerns that students will be put to work on the days they would previously have spent in class, and if forced to study at nights more students will drop out. 2913 CANLEY VALE HIGH SCHOOL FUNDING MR NICK LALICH to move— That this House: (1) Commends the hardworking principal, teachers and staff at Canley Vale High School for their work to educate and shape our leaders of the future. (2) Condemns the Government for the impact on students arising from the cutting of $47,520 funding from Canley Vale High School. (3) Condemns the Minister for Education and the Premier and Minister for Western Sydney for failing to invest in the future of students at the school.

2914 BANKSTOWN/LIDCOMBE HOSPITAL WAITING TIMES MS TANIA MIHAILUK to move— That this House: (1) Condemns the Government for the increase in elective surgery waiting times at Bankstown/ Lidcombe Hospital. (2) Notes that waiting times for elective surgery at Bankstown\Lidcombe were in some cases four- and-a-half times longer than at hospitals of the same ranking in the "A1" peer group. (3) Notes that this increase in surgery waiting times is a result of the Government's wider cuts to health services. (4) Calls for the Government to immediately resource Bankstown/Lidcombe Hospital to reduce elective surgery waiting times.
