PIDGE (O)Ns of Antony, James Pidgeon married Grace Wells at Antony, Cornwall in 1809. James was NOT born in Cornwall (according to the 1841 census), but died before his place of birth could be recorded (in the 1851 census). DNA tests on two male descendants suggests that he was closely related to the Pidgeons of Cotleigh, but his birth cannot be identified. Antony village, where most of these early Pidgeons lived, is just across the river and county border from and is in Cornwall. The local registration district is St Germans , Cornwall which also includes Maker, , Rame, , St John, St Stephen by and – places which are also to be found in the tree, below. While they lived in Cornwall these people used the spelling of PIDGEN, but often reverted to PIDGEON when they moved away from Cornwall and Plymouth. Henry John Pidgen , emigrated to Australia in the 1850s. William Pidgen and his nephew William Henry Pidgen emigrated to Canada. Otherwise, many of the descendants of James and Grace still live in the Antony and Plymouth area.
