The meeting was co-chaired by US Secretary of State Rex W Tillerson and Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah. In a joint statement, the two sides discussed specific areas of cooperation and charted a roadmap for the bilateral relations for the coming year. Top US and Kuwaiti officials renewed partnership agreements on defense, security, trade, investment, education, consular, customs, and border protection issues. In particular, both sides recommitted to promot- ing stability and security in the Gulf region and the broader Middle East, including targeting ISIS and other violent extremists, according to the statement released by the State department. The United States and Kuwait headed political talks on several topics including tensions between Qatar and GCC nations, with Tillerson expressing gratitude to Kuwait’s efforts to ease escalating tensions between Qatar and other GCC countries. “Our two countries share the view of the importance of GCC unity in addressing the region’s many challenges,” said the Secretary of State. Tillerson praised Kuwait’s extensive humanitarian efforts in some of the world’s most trou- bled areas and its direct assistance to the internally-dis- placed and refugees in the region. He expressed US appreciation for Kuwait’s offer to host a donors’ conference for Iraqi reconstruction in 2018. US and Kuwait agreed to work closely on defense cooperation in the meeting. An agreement was reached to enhance the defensive capabilities of Armed Forces of Kuwait. The US agreed to help expedite the acquisition of US military equipment, including the sale of its F/A-18 Super Hornet, a supersonic combat jet, to Kuwait’s Air Force. “United States and Kuwait share the responsibilities of cooperation on defense and the joint fight against terrorism. “As an enduring symbol of our commitment to carry the partnership into a secure future, we agreed today on the priority of moving forward with moderniz- ing the military facilities in Kuwait, guided by our Joint Military Commission,” according to the statement. “In the face of the global terrorism threat, Kuwait and the US agreed to coordinate security efforts, including boosting bilateral information sharing like biometric KUWAIT: Kuwaitis write remarks on a banner bearing the image of their Amir HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, at the Avenues Mall in Kuwait City yester- information, to deter terrorist attacks. day, on the third anniversary of the United Nations honoring him as a humanitarian leader. e e Sci nce Cheema et al., J Textile Sci Eng 2018, 8:6 til & x e E T n : g DOI 10.4172/2165-8064.1000382 f o i n l e a e n r r i n u g o Journal of Textile Science & Engineering J ISSN: 2165-8064 Research Article Article OpenOpen Access Access Development of Nonwoven Fabrics for Clothing Applications Cheema MS1*, Anand SC1 and Shah TH2 1Institute of Materials Research and Innovation, University of Bolton, Deane Road, Bolton BL3 5AB, United Kingdom 2National Textile University, Pakistan Abstract The apparel fabric manufacturing is a growing sector of the global textile industry and the fabrics used in this market are mainly produced by the conventional methods such as weaving and knitting processes. These methods of making apparel fabrics are length and costly. However, because of the advancements in nonwoven technology, nonwoven fabrics are finding a niche market in the clothing industry because of its cost effectiveness and high speeds of nonwoven production processes. We have carried out an extensive study on the development of apparel- like nonwoven fabrics. The resultant fabric showed improved drape, hand, durability and thermophysiological comfort characteristics than the reference samples for apparel applications. Results of the study also showed that the developed nonwoven fabrics showed nearly 200% higher tensile strength than the reference nonwoven fabrics. Furthermore, it also showed improved air permeability, for example, the resultant nonwoven fabric exhibited 500% higher air permeability value as compared with the Evolon fabric at 100 Pa pressure. Thus the results of the study indicate that the resultant nonwoven fabrics may be used in a wide range of apparel applications, which can lead to additional benefits in terms of cost and time.
