C.1.2 Pumping Stations

1) Dunshaughlin - PSDN 1 (Submersible raw pumping station) - Number of duty and standby at each station; 3No. pumps (2 Nos. duty and 1 No .standby). Influent from the will discharge to the pumping station where it is pumped to the inlet works - The measures taken in the event of power failure; - Details of storage capacity at each pump station; Pump sump dimensions: 4.2m x 3m x 3.4m (height up to the pump sump outlet) - Frequency and duration of activation of emergency overflow to receiving waters. Clarify the location where such discharges enter the receiving waters; The 300mmø emergency overflow discharges to an open next to the pump station. The open ditch leads to a small stream, known locally as the Redbog stream which leads to the river Hurley. The river Hurley is a tributary of the River Boyne. It will only overflow in the case of prolonged power failure or pump failure. All discharges are screened via a mesh screen.

There is no facility to record the frequency and quantity of emergency overflows. However, the Caretaker for the pump station has confirmed that to the best of his knowledge the emergency overflow has not been activated in the last 12 months or prior to that.

2) Dunshaughlin - PSDN 2 (Submersible raw station) - Number of duty and standby pumps at each pump station; 3No. pumps (2 Nos. duty and 1 No .standby). There is no facility to record the frequency and quantity of emergency overflows. However, the Caretaker for the pump station has confirmed that to the best of his knowledge the emergency overflow has not been activated in the last 12 months or prior to that.

4) Killeen Castle Pump Station (private pumping station)

Killeen castle pumping station has not, as yet, been connected to the sewer network going to the treatment plant at Castletown Tara. Currently, it tankers all effluent to the main plant at Navan. Please note this is a Private pumping station and as such Meath County Council are not responsible for its operation or maintenance.

5) Dunsany Pump Station

Effluent is pumped from this pump station, which serves a council estate in Dunsany, to the gravity system which discharges main trunk sewer line to the treatment plant at Castletown Tara. There is no overflow at this pumping station. In the event of power failure, pump failure or extreme storm conditions there is a storm holding tank provided.

6) PSDL 1 – Belinter Bridge Pumping Station

- Number of duty and standby pumps at each pump station; 2No. pumps (1 No. duty and 1 No. standby). Effluent is pumped from this pump station to the main trunk sewer line to the treatment plant at Castletown Tara. This pumping station has up to 7 domestic connections. - The measures taken in the event of power failure; Generally speaking, notification is given in the event of any power outages and generators would be organised to provide temporary power. However, in the unlikely event of an unexpected power failure an alarm would be raised via the SCADA system and generators would be organised for temporary power supply. In the interim, the influent into the pump sump will over flow to the adjacent holding tank via the storm screen. When the power returns the contents of the stormwater holding tank will be returned and pumped to the Castletown Tara treatment works as normal. For inspection purposes only. Consent of copyright owner required for any other use. Please note that there is NO emergency overflow facility to any river from the holding tank. - Details of storage capacity at each pump station; Pump sump dimensions: 4.2m x 3m x 3.4m (height up to the pump sump outlet) - Frequency and duration of activation of emergency overflow to receiving waters. Clarify the location where such discharges enter the receiving waters; the influent into the pump sump will over flow to the adjacent stormwater detention tank (volume = 4m3) via the storm screen. When the power returns the contents of the stormwater holding tank will be pumped to the Castletown Tara treatment works as normal. Please note that there is NO emergency overflow facility to any river from the holding tank.

7) PSDL 2 – Dowdstown Bridge Pumping Station

- Number of duty and standby pumps at each pump station; 2No. pumps (1 No. duty and 1 No. standby). Effluent is pumped from this pump station to the main trunk sewer line and on to the treatment plant at Castletown Tara. - The measures taken in the event of power failure; Generally speaking, notification is given in the event of any power outages and generators would be organised to provide temporary power. However, in the unlikely event of an unexpected power failure an alarm would be raised via the SCADA system and generators would be organised for temporary power supply.

In the interim, the influent in the pump sump will over flow via the storm screen and join the Castletown Tara WWTW final effluent line at 15. - Details of storage capacity at each pump station; Pump sump dimensions: 3m x 3m x 3.1m (height up to the pump sump outlet) - Frequency and duration of activation of emergency overflow to receiving waters. Clarify the location where such discharges enter the receiving waters; The 300mmø screened emergency overflow connects into the final effluent discharge pipeline, at manhole 15, coming from Castletown Tara prior to discharge into the Boyne. It will only overflow in the case of prolonged power failure or pump failure. All discharges are screened via a mesh screen. The volume, frequency and duration of any emergency overflow that may have occurred is unknown. However, the Caretakers have confirmed that to the best of their knowledge the emergency overflow has not been activated in the last 12 months.

8) PSDL 3 - Dalgan Park Pumping Station (private pumping station)

- Number of duty and standby pumps at each pump station; 2No. pumps (1 No. duty and 1 No. standby). Effluent is pumped from this pump station to PSDL2 and then to the main trunk sewer line and on to the treatment plant at Castletown Tara. - The measures taken in the event of power failure; Generally speaking, notification is given in the event of any power outages and generators would be organised to provide temporary power. However, in the unlikely event of an unexpected power failure an alarm would be raised at the local control panel, the Caretaker notified via his mobile phone and a generator would be organised for temporary power supply. - Details of storage capacity at each pump station; Pump sump dimensions: 3m x 3m x 3.1m (height up to the pump sump outlet) - Frequency and duration of activation of emergency overflow to receiving waters. Clarify the location where such discharges enter the receiving waters; The volume, frequency and duration of any emergency overflow that may have occurred is unknown. However, the Caretaker has stated that on average the emergency overflow is activated approximately 2 to 3 times per year. It would only overflow at times of extraordinarily wet weather. Please note this is a Private pumping station and as such Meath County Council are not responsible for its operation or maintenance.
