Camp Field Trips The cost of field trips is included in your camp tuition. Children are allowed to bring spending money on most field trips to purchase snacks or items from gift shops. The following is a description of trips planned for the junior and senior groups. Leaders-in-Training will travel with one of the junior groups (K-1 or 2-4).

TRIPS FOR ALL AGE GROUPS

New York State Parks (www.nysparks.state.ny.us/parks) Campers will visit various state parks (please see calendar for specific parks). While at the parks the campers will have their picnic lunch (not included), swim, play on the park playground, and when possible, participate in educational programs. Although children may bring spending money for the snack bar please do not rely on them to provide lunch for your children because it is not a guarantee they will be open.

Six Flags Great Escape- Lake George, NY (www.sixflags.com/greatescape ) Children in all age groups will be traveling to Six Flags Great Escape in Lake George, NY. The campers will have a full day of rides and fun! A catered picnic lunch consisting of hamburgers, (veggie burger upon request) hot dogs, salads, beverages, and ice cream is included. Children should bring a water bottle and pack light as they will be required to carry their belongings through the park with them. Extended trip; buses will depart at 8:30 a.m. and return at 6:00 p.m. Children may bring spending money for the gift shops and food vendors.

NON-SWIM TRIPS FOR ALL AGES

Albany Pine Bush Preserve & Discovery Center- Albany, NY (www.albanypinebush.org ) Children will travel to the Preserve, experiencing the wonders of nature that make up their own backyards. Children will learn about nature and have the opportunity to travel the numerous trails which make up the preserve through a guided hike. Following the hike, children will have lunch and have the opportunity to play and learn within the Preserve’s Discovery Center. Sneakers are recommended.

Five Rivers Environmental Education Center- Delmar, NY (www.dec.ny.gov/education/1835.html) Five Rivers Environmental Education Center is a living museum comprising over 450 acres of broad fields, towering forests, and tranquil wetlands. Five Rivers offers children a rich variety of self-guided opportunities to encounter nature directly. Stimulating and fun, the center promotes awareness, knowledge, and appreciation of New York State's environment. With over 10 miles of trails for self-guided exploration, Five Rivers fosters discovery, spiritual refreshment, and physical fitness through wholesome outdoor recreation. Sneakers are recommended.

Huyck Preserve- Rensselaerville, NY (https://www.huyckpreserve.org/) Founded in 1931, the Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station has been connecting people to nature for over 80 years! The Huyck has a long, rich history as part of Rensselaerville and as one of the oldest biological research stations in the United States. There are 12 miles of trails from which you can explore and experience the forests, lakes, and streams with a variety of wildlife along the way. Sneakers are recommended.

Capitol Building & Observation Tower- Albany, NY (www.hallofgovernors.ny.gov/generic/VisitTheCapitol) (www.albany.org/listing/corning-tower-observation-deck/1117) Sitting majestically atop Albany’s State Street hill, the New York State Capitol has served as the seat of government for New York since the 1880s. The building is a marvel of late 19th-century architectural grandeur, built by hand of solid masonry over a period of 32 years. Children will do a self-guided tour of our capitol building and the Corning Observation Tower.

Bash Bish Falls- Mt.Washington, MA (www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/dcr/massparks/region- west/bash-bish-falls-state-park.html ) is the highest single-drop waterfall in the state. Children will venture to the breath-taking falls for an afternoon hike. They will get the chance to explore the neighboring wilderness at Mt. Washington State Park, or cross the border into New York’s . Prior to their hike they will eat lunch in Taconic State Park. Sneakers are recommended.

New York State Museum- Albany, NY (http://www.nysm.nysed.gov/) The group will travel to the NYS Museum which features a variety of history, science and art exhibitions. There they will explore the cultural and natural history of New York State, and can take a ride on the carousel overlooking the beautiful Empire State Plaza. Children may bring spending money for snacks or gifts.

Art OMI- Ghent, NY (www.artomi.org) Situated in the beautiful in Ghent, New York over three-hundred acres of rolling farmland, wetlands and wooded areas, Art Omi: The Fields presents the works of contemporary and modern artists, offering a unique possibility to experience a range of large-scale works in a singular outdoor environment. Children will get the opportunity to view more than 60 large-scale works in a singular outdoor environment. Sneakers are recommended as there will be a lot of walking.

JUNIOR GROUP: KINDERGARTEN & FIRST GRADE TRIPS

John Boyd Thacher State Park & Nature Center- Voorheesville, NY (https://parks.ny.gov/parks/128/details.aspx) (https://parks.ny.gov/environment/nature- centers/8/details.aspx) The children will have the opportunity to see beautiful views Thacher Park has to offer while enjoying lunch picnic style. After, they will travel to the Thompsons lake Nature center where they will participate in both indoor/outdoor activities. Sneakers are highly recommended as the outdoor activities include a walk.

USS Slater & Albany International Airport- Albany, NY (www.albanyairport.com) (www.ussslater.org) The Kindergarten-1st grade group will travel to the USS Slater and participate in a guided tour of the ship learning about the history, and participate in Deck Activities. After lunch the children will travel to the Albany Airport where they will be touring the terminal, and the Fire-fighting Head Quarters.

Ioka Valley Farm- Hancock, MA (www.iokavalleyfarm.com ) The Kindergarten and First grade group will experience life on the farm at Ioka Valley Farm. Children will tour the farm, visiting cows and other farm animals. Children will have the opportunity to explore and play within “Uncle Don’s Barnyard”, hay tunnels and sandboxes. Children will also have the ability to play with a mechanical cow and peddle power tractors. Sneakers are recommended. Children may bring spending money for snacks or gifts.

Chuck E. Cheese- Latham, NY (www.chuckecheese.com) Children will enjoy a fun day filled with skill games and arcades. Children will receive game tokens, as well as 2 slices of pizza and a drink. After children have participated in the games of their choice, they may turn in their tickets for prizes. Special guest Chuck E. Cheese will perform and may even teach the children a dance move or two following the show.

The Children’s Museum at Saratoga- Saratoga, NY (www.cmssny.org ) The K-1 group will have the opportunity to explore and learn at this fun-filled museum. Children will participate in a discovery visit program entitled “Investigation Science.” During the program children will tap into their sensory skills and play in a fun, scientific way. The Children may bring spending money for snacks or gifts.

Adirondack Animal Land- Gloversville, NY (www.adirondackanimalland.com) Children will have the opportunity to explore the largest zoo within upstate New York. Located in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. Adirondack Animal Land is home to over five hundred animals ranging from colorful birds, camels, Giraffes, and even deer. Sneakers are recommended. Children may also bring spending money to purchase gifts and souvenirs!

Lake George Expedition Park- Lake George NY (https://lgepark.com/) Previously known as Magic Forest- The Lake George Expedition Park has been entertaining children and families since 1963. The children will visit both Magic Forest and Dino Valley. There they will find adventure, make discoveries and be transported to other places through hands-on experiences, and amusement rides. Sneakers are recommended. Children may bring spending money for snacks or gifts.

JUNIOR GROUP: SECOND – FOURTH GRADE TRIPS

Howe Caverns- Howes Cave, NY (https://howecaverns.com/) The children will experience descending 156 feet below the Earth’s surface to explore six million year old caves, where they will enjoy a guided tour, as well as a boat ride. Additional money can be brought for the gift shop once tour is completed. Sneakers must be worn, a sweatshirt is recommended.

Fort William Henry- Lake George, NY (www.fwhmuseum.com) Children will visit the 18th century fort built during the French and Indian War. While visiting the fort, children will be provided with an age appropriate guided tour. They will view a short introductory film of the forts history and be led throughout the fort by a costumed guide. Children will observe a musket loading and cannon firing demonstration while touring the fort. Sneakers are recommended. Children may bring spending money for snacks or gifts.

Fun Spot- Queensbury, NY (http://thefunspot.net/ ) After enjoying an afternoon of roller skating, The children will each have two tickets to choose between a variety of fun activities while at the fun Spot. These include Laser Tag, the Ninja Challenge course, Mini Golf, and Go Carts. Sneakers are recommended. Children may bring spending money for snacks or gifts.

Tri-City Valley Cats Baseball –Troy, NY (www.tcvalleycats.com ) Children within the 2nd-8th grade groups will be going to a Tri-City Valley Cats baseball game at Joseph Bruno Stadium for “Camp Day”. Children will enjoy a full game of America’s favorite past-time sport. Children will also enjoy a complimentary hotdog and soda. *Children may bring unopened water bottles to refill*.

Spare Time Entertainment- Clifton Park NY (http://www.sparetimeentertainment.com/) The 2-4 group will travel to the Spare Time bowling center in Clifton Park for a day filled with bowling, laser tag, and arcade games. A pizza lunch will be provided. Additional money may be brought for snack bar, and extra gaming. Please be sure that your child is prepared with socks.

Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory- South Deerfield, MA (www.magicwings.com ) Children will enjoy their day in a breathtaking ambience surrounded by exotic creatures. Children will have the ability to see and walk among hundreds of free-flying butterflies and over thirty species of tropical birds from all over the world, in the 3,000 sq, ft indoor conservatory herbarium. The conservatory is also home to hundreds of tropical plants, tortoises, lizards and frogs. Children may bring spending money for snacks or gifts.

The Empire State Aeroscience Museum– (https://www.esam.org/ ) The Children will enjoy a fun filled guided tour which they will be exploring the many airplanes at the museum. There will be a Virtual reality show that they can take part of as well. Children may bring spending money.

SENIOR GROUP TRIPS: FIFTH - EIGHTH GRADE

Bousquet- Pittsfield, MA (www.bousquets.com/summer) Children will travel up the Berkshires to experience mountain fun in the summer. Children can slide down the mountain on Bousquet’s giant waterslides. They will have access to all waterslides and have the opportunity to hit a hole-in-one in a round of miniature golf. Children may bring money for snacks and gifts.

Secret Caverns- Howes Cave, NY (www.secretcaverns.com) Children will experience one of nature’s many wonders within the deep depths of the earth. Children will explore the underground passageways and reveal the Secret; a magnificent 100 foot underground waterfall beneath the beautiful hills of central New York. Secret Caverns tours feature a fun experience with trained guides and small groups departing the main lodge approximately every 20 minutes. Sneakers must be worn, a sweatshirt is recommended. Children may bring money for snack and gifts.

The Empire State Aeroscience Museum– Scotia/Glenville, NY (https://www.esam.org/) The Children will enjoy a fun filled guided tour which they will be exploring the many airplanes at the museum. There will be a virtual reality show that they can take part of as well.

Mine-Ha-Ha Cruise and Million Dollar Beach- Lake George, NY (www.lakegeorgesteamboat.com) Before the children's boating expedition, children will travel to Million Dollar Beach where they will have lunch and a day full of swimming and sun. Then, they will cruise along the breathtakingly beautiful and historic Lake George on this authentic paddlewheel steamboat. This one-hour cruise on the crystal-clear waters of Lake George explores the southern half of the lake, where large historic mansions line the shores below scenic mountains.

Colonie Control Towers- Latham, NY (www.all4funlatham.com) Children will get to experience a fun-filled day outdoors while enjoying great views of the Albany Airport runway. Children will have access to a variety of different activities including go-karts, mini-golf, and batting cages. They can also bring their own money to spend on ice cream and snacks while on the trip.

Zoom Flume Water Park- East Durham, NY (www.zoomflume.com) With its wide variety of activities, Zoom Flume is a water park designed for kids to have fun! Children may bring spending money for the gift shop or food vendors. Extended trip; buses will depart at 9:00 a.m. and return at 5:00 p.m.
