How I Got the Job at Adidas Combat Gear When I Initially Heard About Adidas Combat Sports USA, It Was Through My Friend Jeff
How I Got The Job at Adidas Combat Gear When I initially heard about adidas Combat Sports USA, it was through my friend Jeff Chu, a local photographer and videographer. He had taken on a job as part of his freelance career and since I had recently been laid off from a magazine I was working for, decided to tag along. "It's all about the networking in this business," Jeff said. And it is. Because I tagged along, I met ACS President Scott Viscomi and five months later had a job as a blog editor of this website. Before Scott had taken on the task of creating some of the best gear in the combat sports industry, the adidas logo had entered the realm of jiu-jitsu competition when I was only a white belt years ago. Or at least that's the first time I had seen it. The gis that were created then were more cut for a judo competitor, with short sleeves and stiff material. It wasn't pliable, equipt to move along with a jiu-jitsu athlete while playing spider guard or butterfly guard, or passing guard and taking the back. Somewhere along the line, before I ever saw an adidas gi again, the design changed. It was in new hands. As I walked into Church Street Boxing in Lower Manhattan, it was a lot different from the jiu-jitsu academies I'd trained in for six years. In the middle of the main room was a raised boxing ring and all around it were walls covered in mirrors and old photographs and fight posters. -

The televised coverage begins on ESPN at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT and that will start with a matchup between undefeated rising star Tony Harrison against Willie Nelson that's going to be a barn burner. Born and raised in Manchester, Fury weighed just 1lb at birth after being born three months premature. His father John named him after Mike Tyson. From Irish traveller heritage, the“Gypsy King” is undefeated in 28 professional fights, winning 27 with 19 knockouts, and drawing once. His most famous victory came in 2015, when he stunned longtime champion Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles. He was forced to vacate the belts because of issues with drugs, alcohol and mental health, and did not fight again for more than two years. Most thought he was done with boxing forever. Until an amazing comeback fight with Deontay Wilder in December 2018. It was an instant classic, ending in a split decision tie. Outside of the ring, Tyson Fury is a mental health ambassador. He donated his million dollar purse from the Deontay Wilder fight to the homeless. This book is dedicated to the cause of mental health awareness. -
Terence Crawford: Ready to Announce Himself at Upcoming Debutant Brawl
TERENCE CRAWFORD: READY TO ANNOUNCE HIMSELF AT UPCOMING DEBUTANT BRAWL By: Bill Dwyre* Terence Crawford is in line to become boxing’s next celebrated debutant. All the things are in order for his coming-out party July 23rd in Las Vegas. It could be a ball. He won’t be wearing a long gown. No corsage on his wrist. Just shorts and shoes and the tools of his trade, the boxing gloves with which he hopes to leave impressions on the face of Viktor Postol, and in the minds of a crowd of around 9,000 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. If boxing could produce a list of who is next, Crawford would certainly be high on it. The likes of Gennady Golovkin (Triple G), Canelo Alvarez and Andre Ward have all had their big moments and made their big impressions. No debutants there. They have been to big dances and now are maneuvering for the top of the heap in the sport. Nothing new about them. They have arrived and become gold-plated. Floyd Mayweather Jr., says he’s retired, and, surprisingly, he has remained that way. For now. Manny Pacquiao said he was retired after the April victory over Tim Bradley. Few bought that, even with his impending Senator duties in the Philippines. The skeptics were right, as they usually are in boxing. Pacquiao announced this week that he will fight again, in either late October or mid- November. Suddenly, Terence Crawford’s debutante ball in Las Vegas is high on the list of sports’ big dances. -
Kovalev-Chilemba Scouting Report Puncher Vs. Boxer
Kovalev-Chilemba Scouting Report Puncher vs. Boxer Ekaterinburg, Russia: On Monday night “The Krusher”, WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion, Sergey Kovalev, will return home to Russia to face challenger Isaac “Golden Boy” Chilemba in a 12-round championship bout. These two fighters have very different style and when they clash on July 11 sparks should fly. Below is the scouting report for this exciting event: Category Sergey “The Krusher” Kovalev Isaac “Golden Boy” Chilemba Age 33 29 Record 29-0-1 (26 KOs) 24-3-2 (10 KOs) Strength Kovalev has solidified his position in the sport as one of its most devastating punchers. He possesses knockout power in both hands. Chilemba is a crafty fighter with good technical skills. He is an effective counter-puncher with great endurance and strong defense. He is also very accurate and uses his jab well. Weakness Sergey tends to leave openings in his guard allowing himself to be hit. He has been knocked down before but not hurt. He will have to pick his shots wisely in this bout when facing a good counter-striker in Chilemba. “The Golden Boy” does not possess much punching power in either hand; he has only recorded one knockout victory since 2011. He also has a tendency to be a slow-starter in the ring, which can cost him immensely if The Krusher is able to land one early. Experience While Isaac has plenty of experience, Kovalev has been just as active and has been in the bigger fights throughout his career. Isaac is very experienced and has been steadily active throughout his career. -
Andre Ward Gets His Turn
Setting 2014’s Table: Andre Ward gets his turn It’s your turn, Andre Ward. Ward’s comeback Saturday night in Ontario, Calif., against Edwin Rodriquez (HBO 10 p.m. ET/PT) is just the latest in a succession of Saturdays that sets the table for 2014 and perhaps beyond. It started with Gennady Golovkin’s middleweight stoppage of Curtis Stevens on Nov. 2 in New York, continued with Mikey Garcia’s junior-lightweight knockout of Ramon Martinez on Nov. 9 in Corpus Christi, Tex., continues with Ward-Rodriguez at super-middleweight and reaches a peak on Nov. 23 with Manny Pacquiao-Brandon Rios at welterweight in Macao. It’s an uninterrupted series at different weights, yet with a common story line that determines who belongs, who doesn’t, who’s hot, who’s shot and maybe somebody who can challenge Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s pound-for-pound supremacy. Golovkin and Garcia did what they were supposed to. They are newcomers no more. With a mix of tactical skill, power and poise possessed by each, Golovkin and Garcia fought and won like the major players they figure to be in any of next year’s projected bouts. Now, it’s up to Ward and then Pacquiao. Same goal, yet the roles differ from Golovkin and Garcia. Both Ward and Pacquiao aren’t emerging stars. Instead, they are fighting to prove that they still are one. Ward, often listed second to Mayweather in the pound-for-pound debate, has enjoyed critical acclaim from the media throughout his unbeaten career, yet the customers aren’t listening. -

Undefeated Fury (25-0 18KOs) shocked the sporting world last November when he sensationally dethroned long-reigning heavyweight icon Klitschko in one of boxing’s biggest ever upsets in recent years at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany. Klitschko is gunning for revenge after suffering his first defeat in over 11 years at the hands of the Mancunian. ‘Dr Steelhammer’ (64-4 54 KOs) is determined to recapture his belts from Fury and take his place back at the top of the world heavyweight scene.
