Jerry Christmas Gifts for Most Blessed Trinity It is tradition at St. Mary that at Christmas we support our shar- ing parish, Most Blessed Trinity, by purchasing gifts for families in need. This year, due to Covid- 19, the food pantry has decided that it is not safe for their families — or for the volunteers who work at the pantry — to hold the interview process and gift pick-up and distribution. They have decided that the best option is to distribute only gift cards to their families. So, if you would like to help support the families at Most Blessed Trinity by purchasing gift cards, listed below are the requirements from Most Blessed Trinity and the ways that you can purchase and return cards to us. Most Blessed Trinity requests gift cards ONLY from Walmart in the amount of $ 40.00 How to purchase and return them to us:

 Donate the amount of money you would like to spend by going to Give Central on the parish web site. We will then purchase the cards for you.  Purchase the gift card and either mail it to the Parish Office or drop it in the offertory box at church when you attend mass.  Mail a check to us or drop it in the offertory box and we will purchase the gift card for you. Make sure to indicate on your envelope and check that it is for the Giving Tree gift. All gift cards and donations must be in to us NO LATER than Monday, Nov. 23. All cards will be delivered to Most Blessed Trinity on Dec. 1. Thank you for your continued support of our sharing parish. If you have any questions, please contact Sue Matousek at the Parish Office or [email protected].

We are very grateful for the generosity and sacrifices of our parish- ioners. Despite the pandemic, we are actually slightly ahead of last year’s pace! The Appeal is an important source of funding for both the Archdiocese and our parish. Funds received beyond our parish goal of $88,964 are returned to St. Mary. This “rebate” is a very important source of funding for our parish and its ministries, produc- ing more than $96,000 last year. In many prior years our rebate was over $120,000! Neither should we confuse the word “talent” used in today’s Gospel passage with special skills such as playing an instrument, singing, painting pictures, welding or fixing things. The talents referred to here are the generous gifts given to all of us by God. Alice Camille writes:

…God grants talents far and wide to those who would be servants of the divine will. We are each “talented” by the God who gifts us and provides us with every grace and blessing. Those talents may natural- ly lead us into a specific vocation to scientific endeavors or teaching; working with our hands or our head… Yet our job or our role is only one expression of the divine talent that has been given to us.

Another is realized in the bringing to fruition the seeds of the Holy Spirit planted in us, those nine elements of Christian maturity listed in Galatians as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithful- ness, gentleness, and self control. PRAY FOR THE SICK: As members of St. Mary’s parish faith community, it is our responsibility to remember both in concrete and spiritual ways those who cannot celebrate Mass with us each week because they are ill. Those who are sick, in turn, remember all of us daily in their prayers and in their sufferings. We experience many blessings because of their remembering us. And so, please remember in your prayers the people listed below:

May the God of compassion hold us in the palm of His hand when we feel weary and alone in our suffering. May ours be the look of compassion and the touch of comfort to those who reach out to us in their time of need. And may the blessing of compassion be with us all. P.
