General Rules of Entry:

Entering this competition constitutes acknowledgement that 2018 PCV rules apply and acceptance of these rules. No refunds after entry closing date. The organising committee reserves the right: to cancel any class or event, to divide any class, to alter the advertised times, or to refuse any entry, with or without stating the reason.

Disclaimer of liability: Neither the organising committee of this event nor the Mildura-Alcheringa Pony Club Inc., nor the Sunraysia Equestrian Centre Board of Management Inc. nor the PCV accepts any responsibility whatsoever for any accident, damage, injury or illness to , riders, ground spectators or any other person or property.

Dressage will commence at time on draw. Competitors must ride in order, unless otherwise directed by organising committee. Riders must present on time or may forfeit their ride.

Times at which cross country course will be open for inspection by competitors will be posted following completion of formal course approval.

Gear: PCV Gear Rules apply and Gear Check is compulsory before each phase of the competition.

Medical armbands are compulsory for all riders and must be visible on either upper arm. Helmets must comply with one of the following standards and be manufactured from 2013 onward: AS/NZS 3838, EN1384/VG 1.040, ASTMF1163, PAS015, or ARB HS 2012. Manufacture date up to and including 2015- VG1 or VG01.040.

Body numbers are compulsory for Cross Country. Open competitors to provide own body number holder. Per PCV Gear Rules, if worn instead of body number in dressage or showjumping, or blanket numbers must be displayed on both sides of the horse.

Body protector vests should be worn, manufactured after 2009 to the EN13158:2009 standard.

Riders may enter in Horse Trials AND Combined training AND Supercross events on the same horse. Placings will be determined as per PCV Horse Trails Rules 2018. Combinations must enter CT and SX in their HT grade. Medical and Veterinary Authority must be confirmed with entries.

Pony Club Riders: No Rally Card = Elimination. Cards must be handed in at Event Office before riding. All entrants are responsible for their own cards: see Club Member Cards Guidelines in the ‘publications, rules and regulations’ section of the PCV website www.ponyclubvic.org.au .

Open HT classes: Pony Club and Non-Pony Club riders, 10 years and over, are eligible for Open classes 1-5 (nil grading or PCV membership required). Open riders will participate in the same dressage section and then follow on behind Pony Club competitors in their respective grades for XC and SJ.

Grade 6: PCV Horse Trials rule C.11.6. This grade is designed for beginner riders 8-10 years. Riders must be able to ride independently, and be graded at G6 and/ or 5A CT. All Grade 6 riders will receive a ribbon; placings 1-6 will be awarded. Open Grade 6 riders must be beginner riders 8-10 years.

All open entrants (non PCV classes) must complete the Liability Declaration and provide original proof (member card) of financial membership of EA; HRCAV; AHSA; AERA; an Interstate Pony Club; or can provide proof of Public Liability Insurance Policy with a minimum of $10,000,000 event cover.

Open riders who are not a current financial member of EA; HRCAV; AHSA; AERA; PCV or an Interstate Pony Club and do not have proof of other approved insurance in place, are deemed to be 'Day Participants' of the event on completion of the Day Participant Waiver and payment of the $10 Day Fee. PCV Handbook of Bylaws 2018 rules 3.2 and 30.

**All riders are required to pay a $5 facility fee for the Sunraysia Equestrian Centre grounds. Riding members of MAPC, MHC and NWVARC may apply to redeem using a coupon. Details on Nominate 3

A crosscountry jump judge name should be submitted with the entry of each rider or family. All competitors should have their own ambulance cover, as an ambulance will be called if indicated by first aid protocol. (Open riders should also have their own personal accident cover).

Compulsory Vet check at finish of cross country phase.

Elimination from one test/ element entails elimination from the whole competition. An eliminated combination may continue to take part only at the discretion of the organising committee.

Lungeing: - Lungeing at this competition must take place only in the dedicated lungeing area: the round yards. Riders under 14 years may have their horse lunged by an older competent person (2018 Gear Rule 10.12). PCV approved gear should be worn when lungeing including helmet, boots and gloves.

Multiple Horses: More than one horse may be ridden subject to the conditions of PCV Handbook of By-laws rule 34.8: Multiple horse participation.

Horse Abuse: Will not be tolerated! Excessive or inappropriate use of whip, spurs or will result in immediate elimination in accordance with PCV’s Handbook of By-Laws. Horse Abuse also includes, but is not limited to, riding an obviously lame horse, riding an exhausted horse and dangerous riding i.e. excessive speeds. It is the rider’s responsibility to be familiar with PCV’s policy on horse abuse and strictly abide by it.

Biosecurity: PIC numbers must be provided on entry, and usual biosecurity practices must be followed.

Falls: A fall during any element of the competition equals elimination [ie during Dressage, or Cross Country]. A rider who has a fall from their horse anywhere on the venue during any part of the competition or while warming up MUST have their medical fitness assessed under the rules outlined in the PCV Handbook of Bylaws 24 before taking any further part in the competition.

Protests: Queries and protests must be submitted within 20 minutes of posting of results. Protests must be in writing, signed by DC or their delegate and accompanied by $50 fee. No fee for submitting a query

PCV HT classes: 1st-6th place ribbons and prizes. Rug will be presented for each Horse Trials PCV Grade winner. PCV CT & SX and all Open classes: 1st-4th place ribbons and prizes. Presentations will be made unmounted. PC riders must wear full club uniform, Open riders in Showjump attire.

Facilities: Bookings to be made through Nominate. Sites and Yards will be allocated prior to arrival. Please use allocated area. NO Fires.

Sites: Access to showers included in site fee Unpowered camping available Friday or Saturday at $10 per night. Limited Powered camping sites available at $20 per night. Yards Limited numbers available. $20 per yard for 2 nights. All yards to be left clean. MAPC members need to book to secure their own leased yard. No yards or horses allowed in powered camping area next to club rooms. Horses may only be tied to a float that is attached to a tow vehicle, for safety. Dogs not allowed. Penalty: handler to leave the grounds immediately. Catering: Snack foods and cold drinks available for purchase during competition. Saturday night dinner NOT provided. DAY PARTICIPANT WAIVER 2017-2018 Participants in events organised by PCV Clubs, who are not current financial members of a PCV Club, or who do not have any other approved insurance in place, upon completion of this form are deemed to be “Day Participants” of the event. Protection is afforded to the Day Participant under the PCV Public Liability policy, only whilst participating in activities organised and/or run by the PCV Club at that event, where they are liable for causing bodily injury or property damage to others, excluding whilst travelling to and from such event.

Horse Sports are a Dangerous Activity I, the undersigned, in consideration for being permitted to participate in any way in horse sport activities and in particular this event, acknowledge and accept that: Horse sports are a dangerous recreational activity and horses can act in a sudden and unpredictable way, especially if frightened or hurt. There is a significant risk that serious injury or death may result from horse sport activities and in particular this event and freely assume all such risks, even if arising from the negligence of PCAV and/or the event organiser / official. I voluntarily participate at my own risk and assume sole responsibility for any injury, death or property damage I may suffer that arises from my participation in horse sport activities.

I understand and acknowledge the dangers associated with the consumption of alcohol or any mind altering drugs before and during the activity and I take full responsibility for any injury, loss or damage associated with their consumption. I agree to follow the directions of any event organiser or official and that any misconduct or refusal by me to follow any direction of any organiser or official can result in the cancellation of my participation in the event and my immediate removal from my horse no matter where that may occur. I further agree to abide by the Rules and Conditions of this event and the official Rule Book of the Pony Club Association of Victoria. Effect of this Document - I have had sufficient opportunity to read this release of liability and assumption of risk agreement, fully understand its terms, understand that I have given up substantial rights by signing it, and sign it freely and voluntarily without inducement of any kind. I understand that my signature to this document constitutes a complete and unconditional release of all liability of the Releasees, to the greatest extent allowed by law in the event of me and/or the children under my care, suffering injury or death.
