DE ST. PHALLE NAMED USHL FORWARD OF THE WEEK USHL points leader tallied seven points (4G, 3A) in three games this weekend

GENEVA, ILLINOIS — Mathieu De St. Phalle was named Forward of the Week, the United States Hockey League announced Tuesday. The forward originally from Glencoe, Ill., led the (34-7-1-0, 69 pts) to three victories in as many days over the weekend with four markers and three helpers over that stretch.

De St. Phalle, a University of commit, registered an assist in the club’s 4-2 victory over the on Friday and registered back-to-back multi-goal outings the following nights. In a 6-4 win against Team USA U17 on Saturday, the 5-foot-9, 160-pound skater scored two goals then followed the performance with a career-high, four-point night (2G, 2A) in Sunday’s 10-3 win over Team USA to close the weekend.

“This is a long overdue award for Mathieu,” said Steel Head Coach Brock Sheahan. “Not only is he a talented hockey player, but he is the type of person that we want in our program. He comes to the rink every day and pushes himself and his teammates to get better. It is great to see him recognized by the league for his consistent effort.”

With the seven-point weekend, De St. Phalle now leads the USHL with 51 points (25G, 26A) through 42 games played this year, matching his season total from the 2018-19 campaign.

The Chicago alternate is one of three players who have appeared in all 42 Steel games this season and has helped the club to a first-place mark at 34-7-1-0 (69 pts) through Feb. 18.

De St. Phalle is the 8th Steel player this season to earn Player of the Week honors.
