STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State’s Diamber Johnson sank eight free throws in the fi nal 1:02 of regulation, as the Lady Bulldogs turned back North Texas 66-60 in a women’s basketball game played Saturday afternoon in the Humphrey Coliseum. The Lady Bulldogs (4-2) actually trailed 47-45 before a 10-4 run allowed the hosts to take control of the game for good. The contest was close throughout. There were eight tied scores and seven lead changes. The Mean Green scored the game’s fi rst three points and built a 12-4 advantage on a Brittney Hudson layup with 13:52 left before halftime. Trailing 15-9, the Lady Bulldogs reeled off 10 straight points to open a 19-15 advantage. Defensively, MSU held North Texas to only two fi eld goals over a six-minute stretch. A Diamber Johnson jumper placed the Lady Bulldogs on top, 26-19 with 1:44 left before halftime. North Texas (1-7) scored the half’s fi nal fi ve points and trailed 26-24 at the break. In the fi nal half, the lead switched hands multiple times. A 3-pointer by North Texas’ Brittney Hudson placed the Mean Green on top, 41- 36 with 13:02 remaining.
