Adelaide Oval Summer 2021–22 HISTORY The Ashes and International Series Adelaide Oval Official Hospitality Group Tickets Travel Packages WELCOME TO THE SUMMER OF CRICKET WELCOME The moment has arrived. The Ashes. There is no greater rivalry in world cricket. And we can’t wait to take on the old enemy once again, this time on our home turf. This is what playing for Australia is all about. We are privileged to represent our country and do our best to make Australians proud. A home Ashes Series takes it to another level. England will be smarting, and they will be ready. We know they have spent the past two years plotting their revenge from the day we retained the urn at Old Trafford. We too are ready and will leave no stone unturned to keep the Ashes. Our plan is to play attacking cricket and, given the talent in both sides, I am sure England will do the same. One thing I am also very privileged to do this summer is lead the team onto my home ground for the first time in the historic first Test against Afghanistan. There will be no greater honour in my cricketing career than to wear a baggy green for the first time at Blundstone Arena. After the Ashes, Finchy will lead our men in the white ball series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Like me, Finchy is deeply honoured to lead his country and incredibly passionate about making all Australians proud. Those games will be amazing contests in another World Cup year. In our time as captains we have worked very hard to restore the country’s faith in this team and I think we have gone a long way to doing that. Results aside, doing our very best on and off the field as players and people with integrity, honesty and humility is our priority. Ultimately, we want to inspire young boys and girls to play and love the game. We represent them every time we put on an Australian cap. Just as our predecessors did for us. The support of you our sponsors, broadcast and corporate partners, hospitality guests and fans are very special to this team. We deeply appreciate all of those involved in making this game great. As we slowly emerge from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, hopefully you will be able to enjoy all that CA’s corporate facilities have to offer and watch two of the fiercest rivals in world sport go ‘head to head’. Have a great summer. We promise to make you proud. • The Adelaide Oval SMA Ltd (AOSMA) Is Pleased to Provide Its Written Submission to the Select Committee on the Redevelopment of Adelaide Oval
^val 31 January 2019 Leslie Guy Secretary to the Committee C/- Parliament House GPO Box 572 Adelaide 5001 By email: [email protected] Dear Ms Guy, The Adelaide Oval SMA Ltd (AOSMA) is pleased to provide its written submission to the Select Committee on the Redevelopment of Adelaide Oval. In doing so, we provide the following context we believe will be of significant value to the members of the Committee. In reviewing the first five years of operations of the redeveloped Adelaide Oval, it is important to understand the events that led to the formation of AOSMA and the creation of the eventual management model that was approved by Cabinet in 2011. AOSMA is a joint venture company of the two entities responsible for growing and developing the codes of cricket and football in South Australia - the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) and the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Both are not-for-profit organisations that, historically, derived the bulk of their revenues from staging events at their respective grounds-Adelaide Oval and Football Park (AAMI Stadium). This income was critical to their respective abilities to fund, manage and support everything from junior participation to elite level talent development, clubs and competitions. In 2009, the then Labor Government offered one chance at transformational change. However, it put the onus of proving the incredibly complex business case of bringing football and cricket together at a redeveloped Adelaide Oval on SACA and SANFL. Then-and only then-would the necessary funding for the project be provided. While this created an opportunity for cricket and football to help shape their futures, it was also a task that necessitated both organisations to make sacrifices in meeting the Government's demands.

  • THE GAME EXPLAINED 48 & 75 TRAM JOLIMONT STATION Incredibly Fast and Exciting, Australian Football Is Full of Amazing Courage, Athleticism and Skill
TWITTER.COM/AFLDIVERSITY FACEBOOK.COM/AFLMULTICULTURALPROGRAM THE GAME EXPLAINED 48 & 75 TRAM JOLIMONT STATION Incredibly fast and exciting, Australian Football is full of amazing courage, athleticism and skill. Here is a guide to how the game is played. THE ESSENTIALS The game starts when a field umpire bounces the ball in the middle of the ground. The ball is also bounced in the centre to start each quarter and after a goal has been scored. Games are divided into four quarters of 20 minutes, plus extra time. Teams swap ends after each quarter. There are 22 players in a team and 18 are allowed on the playing field at any one time. THE AIM OF THE GAME It is all about kicking goals. That means kicking the ball through the tall inner sticks (the goalposts) to score six points for your team. If the ball goes between a goalpost and either of the smaller outer sticks, then a behind (worth one point) is scored. The ball play must remain within the boundary line, or else the ball is returned to the umpire to throw the ball back in play. The team that finishes with the biggest total score overall is the winner. THE SCORE WOOLWORTHS AFL PLAYGROUND When it comes to reading or writing the scores, the goals go first, then the behinds, then the total points. 246 BUS For example, a score of 10 goals and six behinds is a total of 66 points and is written 10.6 (66). UMPIRES THE MCG 70 TRAM RICHMOND STATION Field umpires: three field umpires control the game and award free kicks where the rules have been breached Boundary umpires: There are four boundary umpires who decide when the ball is out of bounds or out of bounds on the full.
