COVID-19 Retirement Credit for Public Employees (H2808, S1669) Sponsored by Rep. & Sen. Nick Collins These bills would add three years to age or years of service for essential public employees required to work during the state of emergency.

Restoring Public Housing (H1417, S859) Sponsored by Rep. Kevin Honan, Sen. Brendan Crighton These bills would allow housing authorities to leverage new and additional resources for rehabilitation and redevelopment projects.

Anti-Spiking Exemption (S1658) Sponsored by Sen. Michael Brady This bill would exempt certain housing authority Executive Directors from anti-spiking provisions in MGL c. 32.

GIC Dental & Vision Benefits for Housing Authority Employees (S1659) Sponsored by Sen. Michael Brady These bills would make housing authority employees eligible for GIC dental/vision benefits.

MRVP Reform (H1428, S898) Sponsored by Rep. & Sen. Joan Lovely These bills would codify and make significant improvements to the MRVP program including increasing fair market rents and administrative fees.

Service Coordinators for Housing Authorities (H1410) Sponsored by Rep. Kevin Honan This bill would establish a program for housing service coordinators to assist residents of privately-owned state & federally-assisted housing to reduce evictions and increase housing stability.

Executive Director Contracts (H1415) Sponsored by Rep. Kevin Honan This bill would correct language in MGL c. 121B §7A added by Chapter 235.

Tenant Apprenticeship Training Program (H1408) Sponsored by Rep. Kevin Honan This bill would establish an apprentice training program to expedite the re-occupancy of vacant units of state-assisted housing.

Minimum Rent in State Public Housing (H1442) Sponsored by Rep. This bill would change minimum rent from $5 to $50.

Community Preservation Act Funds (S862) Sponsored by Sen. Michael Brady This bill would expand the categories of allowable uses of CPA funds to include housing authority extraordinary maintenance.

Pending late-file bill: Preserving the Public Housing Portfolio & Enhancing Operations MassNAHRO and other stakeholders are reviewing the provisions in MGL c. 121B adopted as Chapter 235 of the Acts of 2014 and proposing practical changes and updates. A comprehensive bill would also incorporate several public housing provisions contained in prior Economic Development bills related to resources and tools for housing authority rehabilitation and development.
