Vector Martini VECTOR MARTINI RACING TAKES THREE SPEED RECORDS AND THREE K7 GOLD STARS Racing AT CONISTON Coniston Lake Coniston, England – 9 November 2015. Vector Martini Racing (VMR) claimed three National Speed Records and three of the Record prestigious K7 Gold Stars during the 45th Coniston Powerboat Record Week. The British National Immersed Propeller record has stood since 2011 at a speed of 107.94 mph and was broken first by Mal Crease, CEO Vector Martini Racing at a speed of 113 mph and then Shelley Jory-Leigh, BBC presenter and powerboat racer at a speed of 114.5 mph with both earning a prestigious K7 Gold Star for breaking a record at over 100mph. Team member Simon Powell also broke the APBA Marathon ‘A’ class Record with a new record at 120.46 mph achieved earlier in the week. The Gold stars are listed numerically and the club have now awarded 81 stars since the K7 club started this award in 1973 and the records are subject to ratification. All were co-piloted by co-founder and holder Peter Dredge (K7 No.43). This marks yet another major achievement for the VMR Team who recently won the 2015 Cowes Classic Offshore Race for a second consecutive year and broke the course record from 1996 at a speed of 91.6 mph increasing it to 94.5 mph for the 220 mile race. Coniston Record Week’s 2015 event also marks the 60th anniversary of establishing a new World Water (WWSR) when breaking the 200mph barrier on water. Both records were achieved on Ullswater, on 23 July 1955, in , reaching a speed of 202.32 mph (325.60 km/h). Peter Dredge, Co-founder and Technical Director said: “I have broken many records in my 25 years of racing, but this is a special moment for the team to be breaking records on Lake Coniston. It is the lake where Donald Campbell CBE, an inspiration to all powerboat racing enthusiasts, made his final record attempts nearly 50 years ago.” Malcolm Crease, CEO Vector World, added: “It is a magical experience to be a part of breaking records on Coniston in the company of so many established World Record holders, and our sincere thanks goes to our partners and support crew who worked tirelessly to keep the Martini Rosso running throughout.”
