Since 2013, we have been doing productions completely involving actors from the GGC. Stage training is essential for discipline, imagination and stretching the actor. At Juilliard and Yale Drama School - this is their benchmark - the stage. Just because we're in L.A. is no reason to alter that basic and primary approach to being an actor with a long career. Being a stage trained actress from NYC, and studying first with Walt Witcover at HB Studios andthenwiththegreats-MichaelShurtleffandMiltonKatselas (atotalofover25yearsstudying with my mentors while working as an actress in film and television and internationally) - stage training is my benchmark as a teacher. In 2013, when I directed 13 original one-act plays, written by and starring the GGC PLAYERS, some nights 35 actors hit the stage. Very satisfying and commercially successful for the actors. We continued the momentum with THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT. Great reviews! Our next production, Sam Shepard's FOOL FOR LOVE, starring Lauren Plaxco, Chad Doreck and Robert May originated as a successful scene in the class also. That production, which I also had the privilege of directing, ran for 12 weeks. It packed a powerful punch and the reviews proved it. After we successfully tackled Shakespeare's THE TEMPEST and his THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, it was only natural that we attempt an original musical. The actors and I wrote the script and I selected the songs, collaborated on costumes and production design and off we went into DOWN ON YOUR KNEES AND UP TO THE MOON. Then, Shakepeare's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING with music was a triumph with full houses and standing ovations. That was followed by the outrageously funny LOVE ALLWAYS, written by comedy geniuses Renee Taylor and Joe Bologna (LOVERS AND OTHER STRANGERS, THE NANNY, MY FAVORITE YEAR) and then the highly successful staged reading of the original dark comedy ALMOST TOUCHING by Sy Rosen (GIMME A BREAK, THE WONDER YEARS.) Then we traveled to Egypt for the passionate and romantic ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA! And in 2018 we start THE MOTHERF**CKER WITH THE HAT - the first production in our own space: The GGC Theatre. In theatre Lucy is Shakespeare trained, having starred as Cleopatra (ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA), Adriana (COMEDY OF ERRORS, won “Best Ensemble” in The Valley Theatre Awards), Beatrice (MUCH ADO, won the NAACP award for “Best Director” Gloria Gifford) and Ariel (THE TEMPEST, for which she was nominated “Best Actress” by Broadway World). Theatre credits also include Joyce Carol Oates’ I STAND BEFORE YOU NAKED, Renee Taylor/Joe Bologna’s LOVE ALLWAYS, and the original musical she co-wrote with director Gloria Gifford DOWN ON YOUR KNEES AND UP TO THE MOON. Lucy has toured internationally with her own music, most recently with Maroon 5, OneRepublic, and Bruno Mars. She has performed on National TV, starring on her own MTV show.
