It’s fashion’s most con­ troversial silhouette: the waist less, but with hip accent. The American chemise look is here and here is how it looks: The >is at least one inch shorter. The follows the fig­ ure almost, but never complete­ ly. The coat is narrow, narrower still toward the hem. It's belt is lower — midway, say, between hemline and shoulder. The che­ mise is the —simple in front—in back, gathered, per­ haps, across the shoulders or but­ toned straight down or any way you want it. The chemise look is not a sin­ gle style, but an over-all new de­ velopment. The feeling that, for any reason at all, you can’t wear these charming new styles is ab­ solutely passe. There simply isn’t any reason. The chemise look en­ compasses many styles and there is a chemise for every figure. Fashion gives as many dimen­ sions to the chemise as to the pencil line sheath. For instance, the chemise is collared or not collared, jacketed or not, semifitted at the waist or not at all, drop waisted or no waistline, gathered in back or with no apparent fullness. It makes its appearance in every needed fashion class from the anytime or place style to the ul­ tra after fiver. Materials — of course, the chemise runs the ga­ mut of fabrics and colors your very favorite mainstays as well as the more glamorous hues may be found in the chemise. (Be sure to watch for orange ice! ) Many styles, many fabrics and many colors give to you an un­ limited choice for your own che- mies campaign. This campaign has produced a different, exciting silhouette. It is a wearable look and the com­ fort of it all is practically unbe­ lievable.
