Paul Schenly is the head of the CIM piano department and holds the Reinberger Chair in Piano. He has won the prestigious Avery Fisher Prize and holds a Master of Music degree from CIM, where he studied with Victor Babin. He serves as artistic director of the International Piano Competition and is the founder/director of PianoFest in the Hamp- tons. Mr. Schenly has played extensively with major orchestras throughout the U.S. and Europe, including the Atlanta, Chicago and San Francisco Symphonies, The and the Los Angeles and New York Philharmonics. He has performed with many of the world’s leading con- ductors, including , , Christoph von Doh- nányi, , , and . Mr. Schenly has appeared in many summer festivals, including the Hollywood Bowl, , Blossom and the Mostly Mozart Festival. He has toured Europe with the Rotterdam Philharmonic and appeared at the Great Performers Series at , as well as in acclaimed recitals at . He serves on the advisory board of the American Pianists Foundation and on the nominating committee for the Gilmore Piano Foundation. Mr. Schenly has recorded for Sine Qua Non and RCA and was artist-in-residence at the Ravinia Festival and a faculty member at the Music Academy of the West. Born in , he lived in South America before coming to the U.S. at age five.

About the Performers Since her debut as soloist with orchestra at the age of seven, Arianna Körting has performed in important concert venues throughout the world in recital and with orchestra, in radio and television, winning top prizes in regional, national and international competitions. She has appeared as soloist with the Peace Philharmonic Philippines, the International Music Festival Orchestra, the Duquesne University Orchestra, The Firelands Symphony, the Solon Philhar- monic and the Lakeland Civic Orchestra. She is the winner of a unanimous First Prize in the 5th Julia Crane International Piano Competition, First Prize winner in the 2011 Heidelberg Performance Pacesetter Competition, First Prize winner of the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, David D. Dubois International Piano Competition, Duquesne Young Artists National Piano Competition, Heidelberg Pacesetter Piano Competition, the Solon Philharmonic Orchestra Young Artists Competition, the Firelands Symphony and Lakeland Civic Orchestra’s Young Artists Competitions, the Ohio Music Teachers Association’s Regional and State Scholarship unanimous First Prize awards and Third Prize in the Cleveland International Piano Competition’s PIANO/OHIO Competition for High School Pianists. Arianna was selected to perform in opening ceremonies for the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Mixon Hall, at Blossom Music Center, in Jordan Hall at the New England Conserva- tory in Boston for a broadcast of NPR’s From the Top, Carnegie Hall in , the Canadian Embassy in Prague, at the Gilmore International Key- board Festival, and St. Scholastica College in Manila, Philippines. Ms. Körting is a scholarship student of Gerardo Teissonnière in the Preparatory Piano Divi- sion at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and has performed in master class for Cleveland Orchestra Keyboard Principal Joela Jones, David Owen-Norris, in Paul Schenly’s Pianofest (as one of the youngest pianists to appear in the series’ history), Gerardo Teissonnière, Virginia Weckstrom and Paul Wirth. Arianna was a member of the Junior Jury in the 2009 Cleveland International Piano Competition. An avid chamber musician, she was pianist of the Zingaro Quartet and earned the 2009/2010 Rembrandt Young Artists title from the Rembrandt Chamber Music Competition in Chicago.

Born in New York City, Philip Kwoka began piano studies at the age of five. Five years later his family moved to Florida and he started studying at the Lynn University Conservatory of Music with Roberta Rust and Philip Evans. Kwoka made his orchestral debut at the age of thirteen with the Warminsko-Mazurskie Philharmonia in Olsztyn, Poland. He has been a prize winner in many competitions including the Bardshaw and Buono International Piano Competition (First Prize), Tampa Bay Symphony Young Artist Competition (First Prize), Bluthner Junior Piano Competi- tion (First Prize) and the New World Symphony Young Artist Competition (Second Prize). In addition, he has been awarded scholarships from the National Chopin Foundation’s Scholarship Fund for Young American Pianists. Mr. Kwoka is currently a second year bachelor of music student studying with Daniel Shapiro and Paul Schenly.

Chaeyoung Lee is in the first year of the master's program at CIM, study- ing with Mr. Antonio Pompa-Baldi. She won second prize at the Tuesday Musical Scholarship Competition in Ohio this year. She was also the winner of The Osaka International competition in Japan. She recently performed at the Sejong Arts Center in Seoul, Korea.

Paige Chun Li was born in March, 1990. She began her music studies at age seven in her hometown of Jiang Su, China. At age twelve, Paige moved to Shanghai to attend the Shanghai Conservatory of Music (Middle School), where she studied with Luo Xiao. After winning several awards, Paige's parents and teachers encouraged her to further her studies in the . At 17, she was accepted to the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and moved to the United States. At the Academy, Paige studied piano with Thomas J. Lymenstull. In June 2008, she took part in the PianoArts competition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and won the second prize and best audience communication award. She also performed the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Paige is currently a sophomore piano major, study- ing with Paul Schenly and Daniel Shapiro.

Daniil Trifonov just won 3rd Prize in the prestigious Chopin Competition in Warsaw. Daniil is a Prize Winner of the Moscow Artobolevskaya Competition for Young Pianists (First Prize, Moscow, 1999), International Television Contest for Young Musicians (Grand Prize, Moscow, 2003), the Fifth International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists (Third Prize, Beijing, 2006), the Fourth International Scriabin Competition (Fifth Prize, Moscow, 2008) and III International Piano Competition of the Republic of San Marino (1st Prize). Daniil has performed in Russia, Germany, Austria, China, Italy, Canada, USA and Israel. As a winner of Guzik Foundation Career Grant, Daniil Trifonov toured in the U.S. (including his Carnegie Hall debut in May 2009). He has performed with the Republic of San Marino Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Nizhniy Novgorod Philharmonic Orchestra, Yaroslavl Philharmonic Orchestra, Siberian Symphonic Orchestra, “Musica Viva” Chamber Orchestras, “Gnessin’s Virtuosi” Chamber Orchestras, and others. Daniil is currently a student of .

Yingying Wang was born in 1990 in Shandong Province. She began her piano studies at the age of seven. After two years of studies, she attended the 5th "Taipingyang Cup" competition in Shandong and won first prize. In 2000, she went to Beijing and studied with Zhang Jin, head of the piano department in the Central Conservatory of Music's middle school. In 2001, she won two golden medals at the Fourth Mido International Piano Com- petition in France and in 2002, she won Third prize at the Ninth Xinghai Cup International Competition in Beijing. She is currently a sophomore studying with Paul Schenly and Antonio Pompa-Baldi.

Taiwanese pianist I-Chieh Wang is an active solo and chamber musician. Ms. Wang has performed Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 2 in D Minor with Kaohsiung Municipal Youth Orchestra. She was the first prizewinner for the 3rd Annual "Elite Award" for piano in Taiwan. With her classmates, she formed a piano quintet and trio representing Kaohsiung Municipal High School and won a chamber music award in a national contest. Ms. Wang has performed the Liszt Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 1 in E-flat Minor with Kaohsiung Municipal High School Orchestra as a solo pianist. She earned a bachelor degree from New England Conservatory of Music and won the NEC Piano Honor and performed in the honors concert of the NEC piano depart- ment celebrates the Mozart anniversary. I-Chieh Wang is currently a master student at CIM and studies with Paul Schenly and Kathryn Brown. I-Chieh has already established herself as a pianist with great promise in Taiwan and has begun to make a respectable career in the United States.
