INFORMATION WITH RESPECT TO THE MUNSIFF'S COURT, UNDER SECTION 4(1) (b) OF THE RIGHT INFORMATION ACT,2005 1. Organisation, functions and duties:- Munsiff's court, Kayamkulam deals with the civil matters within the Jurisdictionof Rs.10 lakhs in the perview of Kayamkulam, Pathiyoor, , , Puthuppally and Krishnapuram Villages in the Karthikappaly Taluk and , Bharanikavu, and Peringala villages in Mavelikara Taluk. This court is also functioning as the Rent Control Court in the above villages. In addition this court deals with the matters coming u/s 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act (which are transferred from JFCM-I, Kayamkulam) since Magisterial Power is conferred to this court. Subordinate staff of this establishment consist of 1 Junior Superintendent, 1 Head Clerk, 11 Senior clerks/ Clerks, 1 Confidential Assistant, 1 Attender, 5 Typist Sr.Grade /U.D & L.D.Typist, 3 Amins, 16 process Servers, 1 Court Keeper, 2 Office Attendant, 2 Part Time Sweepers(1 Supernumerary Post). The duty of this court is based on administration of justice in its jurisdiction. 2. The powers and duties of officers and employees Munsiff's Court, Kayamkulam exercises jurisdiction on original side in civil matters and criminal cases U/S 138 of N.I.Act transferred from JFCM-I, Kayamkulam. On the Judicial side, duty is to receive and dispose the cases and pertaining to the administration of justice as prescribed in the Manual of Office Procedure. 3. The procedure followed in the decision making process including channels of supervision and accountability In the Judicial side, proceedings are channeled through Junior Supdt-> Court fees-/Inward section Clerk-> Bench Clerk-> Judicial Officer in the administrative side, files are channeled through Clerk->Head Clerk->Junior Superintendent-> Judicial Officer. 2

4. The norms set for the discharge of function;- The functions of this court is discharged in accordance with various rules and regulations constituted for the purpose. 5. The rules, regulations, instructions and manuals and records held or under the control or used by its employees for discharging its functions. Judicial functions are held according to various Acts and Rules in Civil and Criminal matters. Administrative functions are held according to Manual of Office Procedure, Service Rules, Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules, Kerala Civil Rules etc. 6. The monthly remuneration is likely to change depending on the grant of increments variation in the D.A sanctioned by the Government from time to time. Public can directly access the touch screen(E-Kiosk) facility or enquiry can be made at the counter for information on status of cases filed. Information on other matters can be obtained from the Public Information Officer, as per provisions of the RTI Act, 2005. No library is maintained for public use. 16.
