SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 537

1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING OLE 2 MISS FOR BEING NAMED CONSENSUS AND 3 UNANIMOUS FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN. 4 WHEREAS, Ole Miss cornerback Senquez Golson is a consensus 5 First Team All-American. Golson led the Southeastern Conference 6 with 10 interceptions as a senior and finished the regular season

7 with 41 tackles, including three tackles for loss. He also 8 deflected eight passes this season, and had 15 interceptions in 9 his four-year career at Ole Miss; and 10 WHEREAS, Golson's most memorable interception will remain the 11 one in the end zone against No. 1 Alabama to seal the Rebels' 12 23-17 victory against the top-ranked Tide; and 13 WHEREAS, Senquez's honors include:

14  All-American First Team (Walter Camp, FWAA, AP, AFCA, 15 Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, USA Today, ESPN.com, CBS 16 Sports, Scout.com, Athlon, Phil Steele, College Sports Madness, 17 Sports on Earth). First consensus and unanimous First Team 18 All-American at Ole Miss since 2008;

32  Week 3 National DB of the Week (CFPA); 33  Week 6 DB of the Week HM (Thorpe Award); 34  Week 8 National DB of the Week - HM (CFPA); 35  Week 8 National Senior of the Week (Senior Bowl); 36  Week 9 National DB of the Week - HM (CFPA); and 37 WHEREAS, a native of Pascagoula, , Golson is the 38 first Ole Miss player named a unanimous First Team All-American

39 since in 2008. Golson is the 56th First Team 40 All-American selection in Ole Miss football history. He is the 41 first Ole Miss cornerback to earn that status since Ken Lucas in 42 2000. It is the second straight year that a Rebel has earned 43 First Team All-America status; and

50 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 51 MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That 52 we do hereby commend and congratulate Ole Miss cornerback Senquez 53 Golson for being named consensus and unanimous First Team 54 All-American, and extend the best wishes of the Legislature to 55 Senquez and his family for this singular honor. 56 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to

57 Senquez Golson, forwarded to Ole Miss Football Coach Hugh Freeze 58 and Chancellor Dan Jones and made available to the Capitol Press 59 Corps.
