There are hundreds of different programs offered by Purdue University Study Abroad with various locations, durations, academics, and financial costs. With such a wide selection, students can find a program to accommodate any major in the College of Liberal Arts. GROW QUICK-START GUIDE TO PLANNING Advance planning can make study abroad affordable, keep you on track to graduation, and accommodate individual schedules and needs. Getting an early start can help you take advantage of the hundreds of program options available at Purdue.

TALK TO YOUR ACADEMIC ADVISOR – Begin your plan to study abroad by meeting 1 with your academic advisor. They can help you determine the best time to go abroad based on your plan of study and what requirements, if any, you should try to fulfill while you are abroad. Courses taken abroad count as direct Purdue credit and can count towards major, minor, and CLA Core requirements.

EXPLORE PROGRAM OPTIONS – Visit the CLA Study Abroad & International Programs 2 office in BRNG 1114 or online to explore the wide selection of programs available to Purdue students. Be sure to take into account location, program type, cost, and academics when choosing your program. Keep in mind that universities and programs worldwide offer undergraduate courses taught in English. While study abroad is a great opportunity to build language skills, if you don’t speak another language, you’re not limited to English-speaking countries.

CONSIDER FINANCES – Location and program type both impact the cost of study 3 abroad. Learn about cost of living in different countries as well as the different program types offered (exchange, co-sponsored, and departmental) to better inform your financial decisions. Talk to an advisor in the Division of Financial Aid to determine if your financial aid and/or scholarships apply to your preferred study abroad program (most do). Apply to the Purdue Moves Study Abroad Scholarship – a $500 to $2,000 grant for any Purdue study abroad program. Resources at the Study Abroad office & online can guide you to other scholarship resources. 4 APPLY ONLINE at www.studyabroad.purdue.edu
