Dear Colleagues,

As we welcome a new decade, many of us take time to consider our direction, to envision our ideal lifestyle, to re-evaluate our priorities, professionally and personally, to take stock of how our life actually is, compared to our vision of our ideal life. The most common promise we repeat is to take care of ourselves- to walk our talk and fi nd time for self-care, relaxation, and personal development. Can we balance our work with personal and family time, along with so many other time-consuming endeavors, such as spiritual nourishment, the betterment of our communities, and charity?

It’s clear the communities to which we belong have exploded beyond anything we might have imagined just a decade ago. Networking meetings with other professionals, both in-person and on-line, can squander precious time that we had set aside for blessed solitude or being with family. Social networking for our business and personal life is time consuming, and as we add yet one more “everybody is doing it” link to our Internet browser toolbar, eventually a point of overwhelm is reached. With so many intriguing choices in this exciting age of technology, we are forced to make decisions about what we are going to give quality time to, and what we are going to miss out on. It’s simply not possible to do it all.

Massage therapists and bodyworkers know that good work requires down-time. And in our modern times down-time has a tendency to be elusive. 2010 begins a decade of exponential choices, a new decade in which we can expect to be continuously challenged to re-affi rm our commitment to a life of balance. As we model a life of balance and grace, woven with satisfying community connections, time for work, play, and family, we can inspire our clients, enhance our profession, and be more successful than ever.

With warm regard,

Nancy Toner Weinberger, Publisher

Indian Champissage™ (Head Massage) has been popular in India for over a thousand years. The head, neck, shoulders and upper back—areas where tension is more likely to accumulate—are gently, firmly and rhythmically massaged until the pressure simply melts away. This unique therapy combines physical and subtle massage with energy balancing to produce feelings of perfect peace and tranquility. It is a wonderful alternative to seated chair massage. Kansa Vatki Foot Massage™ is a beautiful and relaxing healthcare modality which balances the body, mind, and spirit. This unique treatment, steeped in centuries of Ayurvedic ceremony, incorporates ghee (clarified butter). The heart of the treatment involves vigorously rubbing the soles of the feet with a 3-metal bowl to draw heat and toxins out of the body thereby inducing tremendous relaxation. The Kansa Vatki Foot Massage™ is deeply revitalizing for tired feet and legs, and it makes a wonderful addition to reflexology.
