What’s the secret to a big crowd DRINK IT IN at the State Fair? It helps if the weather is nice. It helps if it’s a weekend. It helps if it’s the final weekend. And we learned last year that it doesn’t hurt if you reduce prices, like on Labor Day, when admission is $1. Two of the biggest daily crowds since 1972 were recorded last year. It takes a healthy 112,000 to crack this list. And for the record, the smallest state fair crowd recorded since 1972 was a measly 23,896 who came out for the first day of the fair in 1990. Must have been a cold rain that day.
