Former Ohio State Quarterback Dwayne Haskins Demoted to Third String for Washington Football Team Former Ohio State Quarterback Dwayne Haskins Demoted To Third String For Washington Football Team After four starts this season and 11 overall, former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins will be benched by the Washington Football Team for Kyle Allen in this week’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. QB Kyle Allen will start against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. — Washington Football Team (@WashingtonNFL) October 7, 2020 Not only was Haskins passed up by Allen, but he will be coming into Week 5 as the third-string quarterback, with veteran Alex Smith, who hasn’t played since 2018 due to a gruesome leg injury, backing up Allen. Haskins won his first start of the season in 2020 with a 27-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, who at one point led 17-0 in the game. Washington has lost its last three games since, with Haskins combining to complete 61 percent of his passes for 939 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. In his most recent performance, Haskins completed 32 of 45 passes for 314 yards, all of which were career highs. He did not throw any touchdowns, but also did not commit a turnover. During his rookie campaign, Haskins completed 58.6 percent of his passes for 1,365 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. In his seven starts, he boasted a 2-5 record. At Ohio State, Haskins had one of the most impressive statistical seasons put up by a quarterback in program history, breaking Ohio State records for passing yards (4,831) and passing touchdowns (50) in a single season, while also finishing third in Heisman Trophy voting. He was selected 15th overall by Washington in the 2019 NFL Draft after just one year as a collegiate starter.
