– Hayom Yom Thoughts on the Parshah from Rabbi Sholom D. Lipskar Parshas Behaaloscha Tzeischem L’Shalom n this Torah portion, Aaron Farewell and Thank you!! the High Priest is charged Ito kindle the seven lights After a year of amazing programs, activities and caring for of the Menorah. The Menorah in the prophesy of Zacharia our children, The Shul Bochurim will be leaving this week. (Ch.4 Verse 2, the Haftorah Please make sure to come past the kiddush this shabbos for this week) refers to the and say l’chaim with them. Nation of . Thank you for everything you have done for the community The Alter Rebbe, in his we wish you hatzlacha rabba in all your future endeavors. magnum opus commentary on the Torah, explains how each of the seven lights represents seven specific individual approaches to serve Hashem. The “Soul of Man” – referred to as the “Light of G-d” – is generally divided into seven types/categories/ways of Divine Service. There are those who serve with complete magnanimity and expansiveness; others serve by emphasizing restraint/withholding/ discipline, others concentrate on Torah Study, and still others with thankfulness, pride or total submission. All are included and are an integral part of the Menorah. In the same way as Aaron was required to ignite the lights until they burned on their own, so too is it Aaron who united these souls until they illuminated with their own power. Aaron is recognized for his boundless, unconditional and common love for every Jew. Moreover, he successfully occupied himself with being a peacemaker, bridging the gaps of intolerance and hatred between Jews. It was that unique attitude that qualified and enabled him to reach everyone - no matter how individualistic or different they were. He not only wakes up the spark but supplies adequate energy for that spark to take hold of the wick and oil and become an independent flame. If we are to succeed in igniting the latent sparks concealed in the essence and depth of Jewish identity, we need to employ the same love as Aaron. Though each person has their own unique door to their mind, heart and soul, the power and dynamic force of love can open all of them. The next time you want to awaken fellow Jews, to illuminate them and the world around them, start with a warm, non-judgmental smile and watch them glow and shine. Have a great Shabbos and a wonderful week!

Hayom Yom In the winter of 1942, the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Y. Schneersohn, of righteous memory, gave his son- in-law, the future Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory, the task of compiling an anthology of Chasidic aphorisms and customs arranged according to the days of the year. The calendar was entitled Hayom Yom. In describing this work Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak wrote: …”A book that is small in format…but bursting with pearls and diamonds of choicest quality.” “A splendid palace of Chasidism.” True to these words, Hayom Yom has become a beloved classic work and a source of daily spiritual sustenance.
