Earlier, this lake was used to be the main water source of Jaisalmer. The beautiful gateway that arches across the road down to the Lake was built by royal courtesan named Tillon in the end of 19th century, known as Tillon Ki prol (Gate of Tillon).Today the lake serves as an oasis that harbours many species of migratory birds, so carry a good pair of binoculars to have a closer look.
