They opened the second location of uPaint Pottery Studio in Greenwood to do just that for Southside and surrounding residents. “Most of the people who come to uPaint to do a proj- ect, they’re not necessarily artists,” Singleton said. “They’re everyday people who want to spend good quality time with their family and make something they can be excited about.” Singleton and Heltsley opened the first uPaint store in Plainfield in July 2013. After a year, they decided they wanted to expand and began looking for the right location. They opened uPaint on Smith Valley Road in Greenwood on Sept. 26. “We’re really excited to be out in the community, work- ing with schools, and the businesses,” Singleton said. “We want to embrace the community and get to know people. Either Stacey or I will be here every day going forward. We like to be here, interacting with customers.” Pottery projects start at $5 and up. The store also pro- vides glass fusing starting at $9 and up.
