Welcome to Saint Barnabas Church Founded in 1869, Saint Barnabas is a Roman Catholic parish of the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter. The Ordinariate was established in 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI in order to preserve elements of the Anglican tradition within the . The parish entered the Catholic Church in 2013. Mass is celebrated using Divine Worship, the Vatican- promulgated Missal also known as the Ordinariate or Anglican Use liturgy. All Catholics may fulfill their Mass obligation on Sundays and holydays at Saint Barnabas. Catholics in full communion with the of Rome may receive Holy Communion at our Masses. Confessions are heard beginning 25 minutes before Mass in the chapel off the right-hand side of the nave.  KALENDAR 

 PRECAUTIONS AT MASS The city of Omaha has issued an ordinance requiring face covering in buildings that are open to the public Churches are covered by this ordinance. We ask that you wear a mask while you are in the building following the guidelines from the city. Those not wearing masks must maintain social distance of six feet from those outside their household. While officiants at religious services are exempt from this ordinance, Father Catania will continue to wear a mask while distributing Holy Communion. The Sunday Mass obligation remains suspended, and all those who are at serious risk of infection are encouraged to remain at home. Please be sure to make use of the hand sanitizer available at each entrance. Social distancing is expected, particularly in the pews and at the communion rail. Holy Communion is distributed at the rail immediately after Mass in the form of the Sacred Host only.  KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BUSINESS MEETING AUGUST 18 The monthly business meeting of the Saint Barnabas/Immaculate Conception Council of the Knights of Columbus will be Tuesday, August 18 at 6:45 pm in the undercroft. The meeting will be preceded by recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 pm, and followed by fraternal recreation in the parish house.

 SAINT BARNABAS ACADEMY CLASSES RESUME AUGUST 19 The first day of classes for Saint Barnabas Academy will be Wednesday, August 19. Starting that day, the time for weekday Mass will be 11:15 am.

 RELICS OF SAINT PIO SEPTEMBER 12 Saint Barnabas will host the relics of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, also known as Padre Pio, on Saturday, September 12. The church will be open at 10:00 am, and Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. The church will remain open the rest of the day for veneration of the relics and confessions.  MICHAELMAS SEPTEMBER 29 The feast of Saint Michael and All Angels, Michaelmas, is Tuesday, September 29. In addition to the regular daily Mass at 11:15 am, Sung Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 pm. Additional details will be forthcoming.

 KEYBOARD LESSONS WITH JEFF HOFFMAN Piano and organ lessons are available from Saint Barnabas organist, Mr. Jeff Hoffman. Lessons will be in person in the church, with the cleaning of the instruments after each lesson and hand washing and sanitizing required. Lessons will focus on technical skills and knowledge while inspiring the student to add beauty to life through the art of music-making. Students of all ages and abilities are welcome! New students will receive 50% off the first month's fees with no obligation to continue. If you have always wanted to play this is the opportunity to begin.  SACRAMENTAL AND PASTORAL CARE Please contact the parish office for individual appointments for confession, as well as for anointing of the sick, and reception of Holy Communion. Home blessings are also available. Those who are not yet prepared to participate in the public celebration of Mass are especially encouraged to make arrangements to receive Holy Communion, either at their homes or at the parish house, either indoors or outdoors, with all necessary precautions observed.

 CONFESSIONS Saturday confessions are heard in the Lady Chapel, for one hour, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Confessions are also heard on Sunday morning at 10:00 am until about 10:20 am, and by appointment. The open gate to the Lady Chapel indicates that Father is in the chapel behind the screen. Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance to the chapel.
