Based on the suggestions received from Bureau of lmmigration, Chennai, regarding violation of immigration rules pertaining to lnternational students admitted in autonomous Colleges and Colleges affiliated to Bharathiar University, the Syndicate of Bharathiar University has approved the following guidelines to monitor the international students, from Admission to Exit, in affiliated and autonomous colleges, though BU centre for lnternational Affairs(BU-ClA). For the students admitted from Ay 2021,-22 onwards, the following guidelines should be followed: The 1. autonomous and affiliated institutions should get the approval of the University, for international student admission, with due passport and Student/Resea rch Visa docu ments. The 2. validity of Passport, Visa, Form C, Form S should be checked and forwarded to the University, before each examination, along with other examination forms, for processing the results of the international students . The 3. copy of Exit form should be submitted to the University, along with the application, for Degree Certificate, to ensure formal Exit of lnternational students, at the end of the course. The 4. details of the existing international students should be forwarded to the University for regulating their admissions and monitoring their mandatory documentation until Exit, to award their Degrees.

It should be noted that, the international student admitteci shall be in the Country only for the purpose of his/her study and shall not be permitted to work. Any long absence should be reported to Bureau of immigration. Wherever doubt arises, kindly follow the guidelines given in Bharathiar University website, in BU Centre for lnternational affairs link. 'International Students, includes:

i) Foreign Students: Students holding passports issued by foreign countries and people of Indian origin who have acquired the nationality of foreign countries are included as foreign students. ii) Non Resident Indians :Wards of NRI parents are eligible for admissions to NRt category

WSA for international Students:

i) VISA: All the international students will require a 'student yISA, endorsed to BU for joining fuil time courses. No other endorsement is acceptable. ii) Students joining a research pr"s;*rl."qolr. u *5"31pt, yISA, endorsed'ro BU. iir) The visa shall be valid for the entire duration of the course.

iv) visa shalt be obtained only after issuing the offer of admission. v) Visa is nojrgqrrir:ed for NRI students.

remain the same throughout the duration of the course. The applicant cannot change

namely: Form c, Form s, FRRO registration or any other documents, shall be completed and communicated to departments concerned and BU-GIA.

ix) Proper Exit tfuough BU-CIA shall be done at the time of completion ofthe course, tor processing the results and certificates ofthe international students.

Eligibility:

Admission of International students! ' r) Eligible applicants need to certiff that the medium of instruction for the qualifying examination passed is English.

ii) For applicants who have undertaken their studies in a language other than English need t3 have a valid IELTS/TOEFL score or equivalent assessment done by Bharathiar University.

iii) Once this is submitted, the admission order will be issued.

Fee is payable at Bank of India, BU branch. v) A student who is admitted to a particular course shall not be allowed to change the !9HSe' vr) rynslel from one institution in India to another is also not allowed.

i. Foreign nationals fulfilling the eligibility criteria may be registered for programmes over and above the maximum admissible strength which shall not exceed i5 percent of the total admissible strength of the Department. Foreign ii. nationals may be admitted on the basis of their research proposal, subject to fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria and shali be exempted flom entrance test and interview for admission to Ph.D. Programmes. The decision regarding the same rests with the respective Boards of Study. iii. Provisional Admission will be given only to those applicants who fulfill the eligibility requirements and are recommended for admission by the respective admission committee.
