RAILWAY LANDS WEST AND CENTRAL
Re-development in the former railway lands will be consistent with the following urban design guidelines. The guidelines correspond to the Railways Lands West and Central in Sections 18 and 19 of Chapter 6 of the Official Plan. The guidelines are to be read in conjunction with the urban design policies of the Official Plan.
LOCATION The Railway Lands West and Central is the area of the city generally bounded by Front Street, the Gardiner–Lake Shore Corridor, Bathurst Street and Simcoe Street. It includes SkyDome and the CN Tower at the east end, and abuts Front Street at its west. These urban design guidelines, are intended to provide a context for development of the lands into a predominantly residential neighbourhood for approximately 7,500 residential units, along with non-residential and entertainment uses, new streets, parks, schools, day cares and other amenities. The guidelines illustrate and describe an urban design framework, and provide a context for co- ordinated incremental development and for evaluating development applications.
