Message from the Principal Aditi Mahavidyalaya, the only institution of higher learning catering to a cluster of 52 villages of North West Delhi began its journey in the year 1994 with a vision to reach out to thousands of first generation learners in one of the most underdeveloped regions of Delhi. Over the last 25 years the College has not just set a high standard in academic excellence for itself but also carved out a niche in the arena of extracurricular activities - cultural performance, social responsibility and sports. It‟s heartening to see the way the college has progressed over the years to be recognized as one of the most sought after institutions in University of Delhi. Aditi Mahavidyalaya is playing a pivotal role in educating young minds in a vibrant and disciplined environment. As an institution we have always been driven by the objective of holistic development of students - physical, intellectual and moral. We have an unwavering focus on innovative and research oriented activities to nurture academic rigor and critical thinking amongst students and teachers. Faculty members are working relentlessly to raise the bar in pedagogy and academics by regularly participating in seminars, symposiums and workshops organized at the national and international level. All academic Departments in the College also conduct enriching national and international seminars and workshops on various topics relevant to overall development of all stakeholders. The faculty members are regularly undertaking research projects funded by UGC and MHRD and getting recognized for the same both at the State and National level. Our students remain at the heart of everything we do. On their part the students too exhibit exemplary spirit and energy actively participating in various cultural exchange programs and extension and outreach activities. The latest extension activity under which the college adopted the Shahbad Dairy Village was widely applauded by the Government. The campus placement cell has been doing a stellar job regularly conducting placement drives in the college helping many students get absorbed in reputed organizations.

Another key pillar sustaining the smooth functioning of the college is the administrative department, which is helping every other stakeholder focus on their function without getting distracted by the day to day challenges. My sincere thanks to all the Chairpersons, Governing Bodies and members from time to time for their continuous support. I have been fortunate to be leading Aditi Mahavidyalaya over the last several years and aim to actively engage with all stakeholders in our collective pursuit of making Aditi one of the most sought after colleges in Delhi. I take this opportunity to thank each and every member of the IQAC for their hard work and perseverance in putting up the current Report

Dr. Mamta Sharma Principal

Message from the Coordinator Every institution, academic or otherwise, aspires to graduate to the next level by incorporating improvements in its structure, processes and most importantly its guiding life values. Even though such improvements can be happening on a continuous basis, members of the organization often may not be conscious of the small steps they are taking every day to achieve long term changes. It is important to systematically document the progress an institution is making over time to make appropriate course corrections when needed. The Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC) at Aditi Mahavidyalaya, convened as a follow up to one such mandate from NAAC was to act as the Nodal Agency for adopting and disseminating quality related best practices. The current Committee was constituted on 13th June 2018. As the Coordinator of the IQAC Committee, I looked at the whole exercise as much as a challenge as an opportunity. This obviously involved unearthing volumes of historical data and documenting them for everyone‟s comprehension. But this also was an opportunity to assess ourselves against the required standards set by the NAAC and find out fresh ways to evolve further. Over the years, the College has systematically undertaken multiple initiatives to develop a conscious and consistent action plan to improve academic and administrative performances on a continuous basis. We have also endeavoured to ensure a Quality culture through internalising and institutionalizing best practices/initiatives – Academic, Administrative and Financial. We have also consistently worked on enhancing access and affordability of academic programmes and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning. Adequate, maintenance and proper allocation of support structures and services have always been given priority. We have always been diligent in maintaining the credibility of our evaluation processes and have been networking efficiently with

AQAR 2019, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, University of Delhi Page 4

other institutions in to enhance our academic standards. Periodic conduct of Academic and Administrative Audit and necessary follow ups have helped us maintain the integrity of the processes. The current Committee, the fifth one in operation, has prepared I.Q.A.R-Annual Quality Assurance Report (As per guidelines and parameters of NAAC-National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Autonomous Institution of U.G.C) for submission before it. The Report Preparation process was well and truly a gruelling exercise involving elaborate planning and preparation involving every function of the College. As the Coordinator of the IQAC Committee, I take this opportunity to thank each member of the Committee for his/ her contribution to the preparation of the Report. I am particularly thankful to Dr. Mamta Sharma, Chairperson and Principal, G.B members-Mr. Amrendra Singh and Dr. Sunil Kumar Chaudhary for their timely guidance and necessary interventions on key issues to expedite the process. The committee will continue to make every effort to try and fulfil all the required parameters set by NAAC to achieve the desired Grade in the coming days.

CRITERION I – CURRICULAR ASPECTS 1.1 Curriculum Planning and Implementation 1.1.1 Institution has the mechanism for well planned curriculum delivery and documentation. Explain in 500 words The college follows the academic curriculum prescribed by the University of Delhi. To reach academic eminence, the institute meticulously established an efficient delivery (implementation) and documentation system to fulfil the objectives of the curriculum.

Prior to the commencement of the academic year, Organisational mechanism i.e. framing of Time-Table has been made functional. The Time-Table committee of the college ensures efficient and timely implementation of the curriculum by displaying well-structured teaching schedules of lectures and tutorials. After that, Delivery mechanism becomes functional. Discipline-specific meeting for each subject offered by the college is held to ensure that the subject-specific objective must be fulfilled within the broad academic framework. In the meetings, a comprehensive framework has been prepared concerning academic plan, pace, assessment, activities and requirements; and then documented in the form of minutes. The teaching plans have been prepared well ahead by the faculty. The faculty has the liberty to decide the pace and transmission of the curriculum within the time frame. The academic plan is converted into effective action through lectures, Powerpoint presentation, assignments, quiz, special lectures, seminar, discussion, fieldwork or other innovative teaching methods. Documentation of students‟ progress has been maintained in the form of attendance record and result analysis.

Furtherance to that, informal feedback or appraisal mechanism ensures changes in the implementation of curriculum, if required, can be incorporated for better outcomes especially for the culturally diverse students. Moreover, it helps in identifying weakness of existing syllabus and textual material.

The college administration is decentralized to ensure the quality of educational provisions. Every member of the administrative staff is given charge of specific sections. The Principal supervises and coordinates the functioning of the accounts section, establishment section, purchases, examinations, student affairs and is accountable to the University of Delhi and to other stakeholders. The responsibilities of taking appropriate steps to ensure qualitative teaching and preparing the students to face the challenges of the modern world lie with the In-Charges of the departments. They also manage their departmental work with the cooperation and assistance of their staff members and maintain departmental stock registers and other documents. This paves way for the sharing of duties and responsibilities, binding all stakeholders in a positive interaction and building good human relations.

The college promotes a culture of participative management, in which faculty members, staff and students at all levels are encouraged to contribute their ideas and viewpoints on institutional objectives, goals, and other decisions that may directly affect them. The college has a staff council represented by the In-Charges of the departments, senior faculty members and the Principal. 72 Staff Council Committees comprising teachers from different departments coordinate and conduct various activities and events in the college all through the year. The council regularly meets and discusses issues pertaining to the effective management of academic as well as administrative matters. The organization understands the importance of a strong relationship among the faculty members, staff and students, and the stakeholders. Describe at least two institutional best practices Upload details of two best practices successfully implemented by the institution as per NAAC format in your institution website, provide the link Best Practices 1 Community Development Project (CDP): B.A. (Hons.) Social Work course is a specialized discipline attempts to deal at social, psychological and emotional level of an individual. It helps an individual to realize its potential and become a useful member of the society. Social Work deals with various social issues and problems that concern our society. Youth who have a genuine concern for the welfare of the society should opt for this course. Social Work equips the student with relevant skills to work under challenging situations and transmits the knowledge required for social reconstruction and regenerations. Department of Social Work has undertaken a Community Development Project (CDP) on understanding issues and challenges of people living in slums. Students visit Bawana resettlement and J.J. colony and conduct awareness sessions on gender issues, domestic violence, counselling sessions, group activities, case dealings, etc. with community people. Students also organize health check-up camps. Department provided field exposure of National movement “Narmada Bachao Andolan” to the students. 34 Students (Ist and IIIrd year) visited Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujrat and interacted with the villagers affected because of construction of Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP Dam). Department always intervened during crisis situations and provided students exposure of crisis intervention. Like students in different batches visited earth quake affected areas of Gujrat under UDAI-I, a project of Department of Social Work, University of Delhi. Students again responded to another crisis situation during flood in Kosiriver in Bihar, Under UDAI-II, a project of Department of Social Work, University of Delhi. Best Practices 2 National Skill Training: National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in partnership with University of Delhi had offered skill-based training to students of our college, for which the Skill Development Cell was constituted. The main objective of training was to help students become more employable as per skills required in the industry. The students were offered three courses namely, Software Developer, Mutual Fund Agent (MFA) and 2D Animator. The classes were conducted by the training partner „Teamlease Pvt Ltd‟ allotted by NSDC in our college. Many colleges of University of Delhi are running these skill based courses for students in various sectors at present, with Aditi Mahavidyalaya being one of the three colleges offering MFA course. The first batch of students has successfully completed the course, and been awarded a certificate by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and NSDC. Nominal infrastructure, off campus college and poor connectivity, in spite of this staff members high motivational levels can be gauged from the high level research project that the college has begged in past years. 7.3 Institutional Distinctiveness Provide the details of the performance of the institution in one area distinctive to its vision, priority and thrust Provide the weblink of the institution in not more than 500 words

Aditi Mahavidyalaya, being situated in the peripheral area of the NCT of Delhi, envision the empowerment of rural girls. Since the inception of the Institute, thousands of students graduated among which half of them have successfully upgraded themselves academically or professionally and remaining half have been actively participating in the decision-making process of their family. Now, the major distinction of our Institute is empowering young adults coming from the outskirts of Delhi with the powerful tool of knowledge and education. It is doing revolutionary work in developing entrepreneurial skills in the first-generation learners, thereby enabling them to be financially independent, innovation and research are at the heart of our institution where in both teaching staff and students are

actively and innovatively involve in research project. So, proudly, we can claim that we have been successfully educated young minds of rural girls and culturally diverse section of society and their inclusion in the mainstream of education and modern civil society. Through our community extension services, we have been able to sensitize them towards social responsibility such as Demonetization, Padega India to Badega India, Women empowerment and sustainability, Responsible citizenship and consciousness towards their health and hygiene, realising the goals of healthy and powerful human resources development.
