Until this season, highly talented female hockey players had no choice but to play collegiate hockey outside of Alaska. This summer, the Alaska Women’s Hockey Club was formed by students at UAF. The primary purpose of the club is to develop a team that will provide talented female hockey players with the opportunity to play collegiate hockey in our great state. The Alaska Nanooks women’s hockey team will be the first women’s collegiate team in the state to com- pete in the American Collegiate hockey Association (ACHA).
