More than 1,000 nominal species bear simple plesiomorphic shells, whose variability is high and overlapping between the taxa, and the soft part morphology and anatomy of the group is simplified because of miniaturization, and unified, as a result of necessary ad- aptations to the life in freshwater habitats (osmoregulation, internal fertilization and eggs rich in yolk and within the capsules). The ad- aptations arose parallel, thus represent homoplasies. All the above facts make it necessary to use molecular markers in species dis- crimination, although this should be done carefully, considering ge- netic distances calibrated at low taxonomic level. Beaverpond marstonia is a small spring snail found in tributaries located east of Lake Blackshear in Crisp, Worth, and Dougherty Counties, Georgia. It was last documented in 2000. Based on the results of repeated surveys by qualified species experts, there appears to be no extant populations of beaverpond marstonia. -

Introduction When Schütt (1980) wrote his paper about the Hydrobiids of Greece, he mentioned six Pseudamnicola spp. and one subspecies from continental Greece (Pseudamnicola macrostoma (Küster 1853) and Pseudamnicola macrostoma negropontina (Clessin 1878)), Pseudamnicola. exilis (Frauenfeld 1863) from the Peloponnesos, and the others from the Agean islands: Pseudamnicola brachia (Westerlund 1996) from the island of Crete, Pseudamnicola chia Martens 1889 from the island of Chios, Pseudamnicola pieperi Schütt 1980 from the island of Karpathos and Pseudamnicola malickyi (Schütt 1980) from the Greek part of Cyprus. Radea and Parmakelis (2015) described Pseudamnicola ianthe from the island of Rhodes. -

Based on available COI clock calibrations, the three lineages that comprise this fauna are 2.78–1.42 million years old, which is roughly coeval or slightly younger than the age of Blue Point Spring (inferred from local fossil spring deposits). -

Floridobia mica has been found only in Coffee Spring, a third magnitude spring that is one of several springs located within Ichetucknee Springs State Park, Columbia and Suwannee Counties, Florida. The snail is designated as a Species of Greatest Conservation Need by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and was one of ten Florida siltsnail species petitioned for federal listing as threatened or endangered by the Center for Biological Diversity, Tucson, Arizona, in their 2010 “megapetition” submitted to the U.S. -

We surveyed the gastropod fauna of 27 freshwater springs, rivulets and water reservoirs located mainly in the central part of the island. Six gastropod species were identified. At least two more species of the genera Pseudamnicola and Bythinella were also recorded. Although all the gastropod species are known from mainland Greece, Theodoxus fluviatilis (Linnaeus, 1758), Haitia acuta (Draparnaud, 1805), Planorbis atticus (Bourguignat, 1852) and Galba truncatula (O. F. Müller, 1774) are reported for the first time from Andros. Literature records, material examined, taxonomic remarks, and ecological information such as altitudinal ranges and habitat preferences are given for each species. Illustrations and distribution maps are provided; the history of the fauna is briefly discussed.
