SAR was not able to find anything and are stood down until called back by the RCMP. 01 22:53 VIR LAND 1 1 1 1 Nanaimo SAR member responded to RCMP 170117 request to assist with a missing elderly woman. Subject was found alive in the building. 02 0433 SWE LAND 4 18 4 18 Nanaimo SAR members responded to RCMP 170118 request to search for 4 males on Nanaimo River Road at the Mines. SAR was stood down when the subjects called home and reported they were fine after their vehicle got stuck and stayed put for the night. 02 16:38 SWE LAND 2 4 2 4 Squamish SAR members responded to assist 170119 with 2 lost female hikers on the back side of The Chief, near Squamish. SAR located subjects and escorted them out. 02 17:11 SEA LAND 1 6 1 6 SAR responded to a spot 170120 beacon activation from an injured female with a dislocated hip. SAR located and transported subject out via helicopter. Transferred to BCAS. 03 1802 SEA INLAND 3 1 3 1 Golden SAR member responded to 3 missing 170121 WATER Kayakers on the River, near Golden. SAR stood down after the 3 kayakers turned up alive and well. 04 11:06 CTL INLAND 1 7 1 7 Kamloops SAR responded to someone that 170122 WATER jumped off the Overlander Bridge. SAR was stood down by RCMP pending further information after a search of area resulted in negative results. 04 1344 SEA LAND 10 10 Revelstoke SAR responded to an avalanche 170123 which occurred in the Green Slide area near Revelstoke. No subjects in the avalanche area. 04 1407 CTL INLAND 1 9 1 9 Naramata and Penticton Fire Rescue members 170124 WATER responded to a distressed canoer in . Fire rescue made contact with the subject and he did not need assistance. 05 19:08 SWE LAND 3 14 3 14 Central Fraser Valley SAR responded to locate 170125 a missing teen and mother near the Lower Sumas Mtn. SAR was stood down after 3 subjects self rescued. 05 19:17 VIR INLAND 19 19 Comox Valley SAR members responded to 170126 WATER search the riverbed and possibly under Nymph Falls for a potentially missing kayaker. Extensive searching of the area failed to locate anyone and SAR was stood down by RCMP pending further information. 05 08:26 CTL INLAND 1 190 1 190 Kamloops, Ridge Meadows, Shuswap, Vernon, 170127 WATER South Cariboo, Nicola Valley, Chilliwack, Mission, Pemberton SAR, PEP Air and 30 convergent FD personnel responded to search for a person in the water near the Brookside Campground in Cache Creek. 05 15:35 CTL INLAND 2 6 2 6 Naramata and Penticton Fire members in their 170128 WATER respective zodiacs responded to a reported possible vessel in distress in the middle of the lake. On arrival it was found they had momentarily lost power but were otherwise fine. Fire Response number is NPE 2017-05-05; 1503 06 01:24 CTL INLAND 2 1 2 1 RCM SAR responded to 2 stranded boaters on 170130 WATER in Tappen. Situation was resolved prior to SAR response. 06 10:24 CTL LAND 1 16 1 16 Shuswap SAR responded to a person possibly 170131 swept away in a landslide in the Sunnybrae area. SAR responded and provided site security for the Vancouver HUSAR team as they conducted a search of the area in the slide. SAR has stood down for the night after search resulted in negative results. 06 15:08 VIR LAND 1 9 1 9 members of Nanaimo SAR responded to rescue 170132 an elderly injured male with off Nanaimo Lakes Rd. SAR was stood down when BCAS determined they could access the patient. 06 16:00 NWE LAND 1 15 1 15 members from Bulkley Valley, Stewart, Houston 170114 and Terrace SAR responded to search for a male who went missing north of Bell II along Highway 37 UPDATE last December. The remains of the deceased were located and passed to the RCMP. 06 17:26 SWE LAND 1 14 1 14 Squamish SAR members responded to an 170133 injured hiker at Petgell Lake near Shannon Falls. Subject was airlifted out using HETS and passed to BCAS for transport to hospital. 06 17:47 SWE LAND 1 6 1 6 North Shore Rescue responded to a missing 170134 female hiker on Mount Seymour near North Vancouver. Subject was returned to her vehicle. 07 01:15 CTL LAND 1 4 1 4 Shuswap SAR responded to an overdue quad 170135 rider in the Pritchard area. The quadder walked out on his own and SAR was stood down. 07 10:17 SEA LAND 1 5 1 5 Golden SAR responded to an injured skier 170136 located between Mt. Arras and Rostrum Peak. Alpine Helicopters was contacted by the manager who loaded the subject and took them to BCAS and SAR was stood down. 07 15:45 SWE INLAND 11 11 Kent Harrison SAR members responded to 170137 WATER search for the operator of an ATV located upside down in Clear Creek. Team arrived at the scene and swiftwater members determine there was no one trapped in the vehicle and no missing person is reported so SAR has been stood down. 05 18:23 CTL LAND 25 members of Shuswap SAR responded to rescue 170129 4 people stranded by landslides on either side of their location at the Squilax Anglemont Road at St. Ives Road. The 4 subjects were able to make their way to a boy scout camp 4 kms east whrere they were picked up by SAR boat at Blind Bay and taken to Anglemont. BODY RECOVERY

On 03 May 2017, Vernon SAR responded to perform a body recovery in Kalamalka Lake near Vernon.

On 05 May 2017, Nelson SAR responded to a body recovery in the Creston area.

DANGEROUS GOODS

On 01, May 2017, an unknown white powder (substance) was discovered in a Canada Post facility near Nanaimo, resulting in an evacuation of the office. The Ministry of Environment Response Officer (MOE RO) raised the incident to Code 2 (urgent status).

On 04 May 2017, a trailer carrying approximately 20 bags of sodium antimonite caught fire at the Kingsgate Border Crossing on the Canadian side. The MOE RO raised the incident to Code 2 (urgent status) due to the potential for firefighting runoff to reach the Moyie River.

FLOODING

On 03 May 2017, the Village of Lumby required some sandbagging due to potential flooding at the Faulkner Salmon Trails and Shuswap Avenue Bridge.

On the 04 May 2017, the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) responded to assess a potential log jam on the Bolena Creek.

On 04 May 2017, an incident was opened for the City of Kamloops due to flooding along Campbell Creek.

On 04 May 2017, an incident was opened for flooding near the Nicola and Coldwater Rivers, in the City or Merritt.

On 04 May 2017, an incident was opened due to intentional blocking of a creek in the Dewdney area of Mission.

On 04 May 2017, an incident was initiated for flooding along Cache Creek.

On 04 May 2017, an incident was opened for the Central Okanagan Regional District (CORD) in response to flooding of McDougall Creek.

On 05 May 2017, an incident was opened for Logan Lake due to flooding from Chartland Creek.

On 05 May 2017, an incident was opened for the Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) in response to flooding from Cherry Creek on Beaton Road.

On 06 May 2017, an incident was opened for Kamloops due to flooding of Noble Creek that threatened to flow over the Kinder Morgan right of way and pipeline.

On 06 May 2017, an incident was opened for the Okanagan Similkameen Regional District (OSRD) due to flooding from Chute Creek at Indian Rock Road, Naramata.

On 06 May 2017, an incident was opened for Salmon Arm due to flooding at Foothills Road, Hobson Creek.

On 06 May 2017, an incident was initiated due to flood damage that took out Old Highway 5, and exposed utilities and broke the Heffley Creek water main.

On 06 May 2017, the PECC was activated in support of the activated PREOC’s engaged in flood response activities in the CTL and SEA regions.

On 06 May 2017, Cranbrook opened their EOC in response to water issues resulting from a release from the Idlewild Dam that raised water levels in Joseph Creek.

On 06 May 2017, ESS was provided to an elderly resident in Salmon Arm whose home was flooded along Salmon River Road.

On 06 May 2017, an incident was opened for TNRD due to flooding of Lower Nicola, Guichon Creek.

On 06 May 2017, an incident was initiated for the CSRD due to flooding in the Notch Hill area.

On 06 May 2017, the Mamit Lake Dam, in the Logan Lake District, began to fail and a Level 3 Alert was issued. RCMP went door to door to evacuate downstream residents.

On 06 May 2017, the Kootenay Boundary Regional District (KBRD) activated their EOC in order to coordinate flood response efforts in several places in the Grand Forks area.

On 07 May 2017, an incident was initiated when 15 to 20 residences were impacted by flooding in the Johnson’s Flat area of the KBRD.

On 07 May 2017, the Emergency Program Coordinator of the Central Kootenay Regional District (CKRD) conducted a site assessment of Gray Creek on the eastern shore of Kootenay Lake due to potential flooding.

On 07 May 2017, the CORD tasked the Central Okanagan SAR team to deliver notice of evacuation orders to residents in the Lake Country area due to flooding.

LANDSLIDE

On 01, May 2017, a landslide occurred within the Central Okanagan Regional District, in West Kelowna on Gellatly Road. CORD performed an assessment of the affected area.

On 05 May 2017, a debris slide occurred in the community of Seymour Village in the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District.

On 06 May 2017, a landslide occurred in the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District on Sunnybrae Road in Tappen.
