Summer at July 11 – August 31, 2017

URAYASU, CHIBA—Tokyo Disney Resort® will offer special events and programs at Tokyo ® Park, Tokyo DisneySea® Park, the Disney Hotels and other locations during the summer season from July 11 through August 31, 2017. This year, Tokyo DisneySea will offer “Disney Pirates Summer,” a special event featuring a brand new theme. And will present the special event “Disney Natsu Matsuri*” again this year, as well as a new enhanced version of the popular nighttime parade “Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights.” At both Parks this summer, Guests can enjoy entertainment that features lots of splashing water for a cool, fun-filled time.

At Tokyo DisneySea, the special event “Disney Pirates Summer” will be held for the first time this year. Themed to the world of the films, Guests can enjoy an exciting show and other programs unlike anything seen before. Presented at Mediterranean Harbor will be “Pirates Summer Battle ‘Get Wet!’” a show featuring Captain Jack Sparrow and a crew of pirates led by Captain Barbossa. In this show, Captain Barbossa takes control of Mediterranean Harbor’s Porto Paradiso with his crew and trains Guests so that they can become pirates too. His longtime rival, Captain Jack Sparrow, appears for a showdown on the “Disney Pirates Summer” Black Pearl, with tons of water shooting out over the at Tokyo DisneySea Guests in this unique show themed to the world of pirates.

Also during the special event period, Lost River Delta will be the venue for the program “Pirates Cantina Fiesta” at Miguel's El Dorado Cantina. Decorations at the Park will be themed to the event, while special merchandise and menu items will feature pirate motifs. Atmosphere entertainment presented by the pirates will also enhance the swashbuckling mood of the event.

This summer Tokyo DisneySea will also see the premiere of a new show at the Dockside Stage in American Waterfront. “Steps to Shine” will introduce StellaLou, Duffy’s new friend whom he met on his travels with Mickey Mouse.

Over at Tokyo Disneyland, the special event “Disney Natsu Matsuri” will give a Disney touch to the traditional elements of a Japanese summer festival. The event will present a new entertainment program, titled “Sansui! Summer Beat,” in the Plaza area including the Cinderella Castle Forecourt. Wearing new costumes for this program, Mickey Mouse and the Disney Friends play “Disney Natsu Matsuri” at Tokyo Disneyland Japanese musical instruments and heighten the festival mood with a Japanese arrangement of popular Disney songs. Guests will enjoy shouting and clapping along as water sprays out from the floats adding to the excitement of the festival. Also, booths will be set up at the Plaza Terrace to recreate the ambience of a Japanese summer festival. Summer at Tokyo Disneyland will also see a new version of the ever-popular nighttime parade, “Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights,” with five new floats and LED lighting enhancing the sparkle. Making their first appearance in this parade will be Anna and Elsa on a float designed like the icy castle from the Disney film , while the parade unit for the Disney film Cinderella has been redesigned. Making a comeback after being retired in July 2011 is a float inspired by the Disney film Beauty and the Beast.

In addition, Guests will be able to enjoy a special program in that is linked to the newest Disney film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, scheduled to be released in Japan on Saturday, July 1.

Other programs for summer will be offered at the Disney hotels, the Disney Resort Line and Ikspiari. Summer at Tokyo Disney Resort will offer a wide variety of memorable experiences for all.

Special Event Disney Pirates Summer July 11 through August 31, 2017

ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAM Pirates Summer Battle "Get Wet!" Venue: Mediterranean Harbor Duration: About 20 minutes Performances: 3 Daily Number of Performers: About 80 Participating Disney Characters: Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa In this brand new entertainment program themed to the world of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, a crew of pirates led by Captain Barbossa takes over Porto Paradiso in Mediterranean Harbor. The story begins as a lighthouse rises from the harbor. Captain Barbossa appears aboard the Black Pearl as other pirates prowl the harbor shores. In an attempt to recruit members for his crew, Captain Barbossa puts the Guests through pirate training with rhythmical music and lots of splashing water. Just as the Guests and the pirates form a bond, Captain Jack Sparrow makes an appearance. Jack Sparrow, the longtime rival of Captain Barbossa, proposes to set aside their past issues. He invites the Guests and the pirates to celebrate together as tons of water shoot out over them. But in an unexpected turn, Jack Sparrow transforms the celebration into a fierce battle between him and Captain Barbossa to win the Black Pearl. Guests will be immersed in a world of pirates through this thrilling performance enhanced with water and fire.

ATMOSPHERE ENTERTAINMENT At Mediterranean Harbor, a variety of unique pirates will greet Guests during “Disney Pirates Summer.” Over at Lost River Delta, atmosphere entertainment will encourage Guests to participate in some more pirate training and, in the program “Pirates Cantina Fiesta,” Guests dining at the Miguel's El Dorado Cantina will be entertained by a musical band of swashbuckling pirates.

RESTAURANT PROGRAM Pirates Cantina Fiesta Also in Lost River Delta will be the program “Pirates' Cantina Fiesta.” The counter service restaurant, Miguel's El Dorado Cantina, will be decorated to give an ambience of a tavern where rough and raucous pirates like to gather. Guests will also be able to enjoy special dishes inspired by the pirates, as well as atmosphere entertainment.

SPECIAL MERCHANDISE About 20 different types of products with designs of skulls and the Black Pearl inspired by the Disney film series Pirates of the Caribbean will be offered during the special event. fringed T-shirts, bags and other cool items that a pirate crew might fancy. Also to be sold will be about 40 different types of other special merchandise featuring designs of the Disney Friends as pirates and designs that give a cool and fresh feeling. Guests will find plush badges of the Disney Friends in the same pose as T-shirt 1,700 yen they have in the designs, cushions of Pluto holding a bone and at Emporio other items like T-shirts, shorts and bandanas that will let them feel like pirates. In addition, when Guests purchase one of the three designated types of black T-shirts, they will receive a complimentary pirate-inspired photo prop. Guests can get into the spirit of the pirates when they wear the T-shirt and use the photo prop at the photo locations in the Park.

Miguel’s El Dorado Cantina, transformed into a gathering place for pirates and where “Pirates Cantina Fiesta” takes place, will serve hearty dishes to satisfy the appetite of the rowdiest pirate. On offer will be a special set menu that features chicken and a skull-shaped serving of rice, tacos made with black tortillas and colorful alcoholic drinks. And to add enjoyment to a summer evening, a special dish and alcoholic drink will be served exclusively after 4:00 p.m. Cafe Portofino, decorated with flags and casks with Special Set 1,580 yen designs of pirates and skulls, will offer a special set menu at Miguel’s El Dorado Cantina inspired by pirates. At Mamma Biscotti’s Bakery, Guests can enjoy sandwiches with black buns that give a buccaneer feeling. To help StellaLou fulfill her dream of dancing on the Broadway stage, Mickey Mouse and Duffy prepare a stage where she can put her dancing practice to the test. Minnie Mouse, ShellieMay and Gelatoni also lend a hand as their new friend strives to make her dream come true. Guests can enjoy interacting with Duffy, StellaLou and the other Disney Friends in the greeting segment of the show, and share in the joy as StellaLou takes her first steps towards achieving her dream.

Special Event Disney Natsu Matsuri July 11 through August 31, 2017

This new entertainment program is inspired by the colorful, Japanese style of “natsu matsuri” or summer festivals. “Sansui” refers to “sparkling sun and water” and in the program tons of water will spray out over the forecourt in front of Cinderella Castle and along the parade route around the Plaza for a fun and refreshing time. In this season of summer festivals, Guests gather as five floats, large and small, make their way to the Castle Forecourt and Plaza. Popular Disney songs are heard in a summer festival arrangement with Japanese drums, flutes and other instruments. The Disney Friends, dressed in colorful Japanese fashion, appear on the floats that spread out in front of the castle and spray the Guests with water. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their friends take the lead, clapping rhythmically and calling out to the Guests in a lively way. The whole venue heats up as Donald Duck and the others become even more boisterous while Daisy Duck and Clarice cheer them on. That special ambience of a Disney-style Japanese summer festival reaches the heights as Guests and the Disney Friends join together in the fun. Note: Water will spray from the five large and small floats primarily in front of Cinderella Castle and along the parade route around the Plaza.

SPECIAL MERCHANDISE Incorporating traditional Japanese designs and festival motifs, the “Disney Natsu Matsuri” special merchandise will be offered in about 50 different types of items. Products designed with the Disney Friends as they appear in “Sansui! Summer Beat” will include clear folders, memo sets, towels, Clear Folder Set 1,030 yen assorted cookies and other items perfect for souvenirs and Available at Grand Emporium gifts. Guests will also find colorful items showing Chip ’n Dale enjoying shaved ice, cotton candy, water balloons, goldfish fishing and other typical festival treats. Cool-feeling cushions with a design inspired by shaved ice and goldfish bowl-shaped glasses will also be available. And T-shirts, shorts, light-up pendants in the shape of water balloons, fun sunglasses with a candy-apple design and other items that can be worn in the Park will also add to the festival feel. SPECIAL MENUS Typical treats found at Japanese summer festivals are given a Disney touch, while other special menus include Japanese motifs. At Plaza Pavilion Restaurant, Guests will find a special menu with a meat patty shaped like a Japanese drum. And Guests can forget the summer heat with the refreshing soft drink offered at Pecos Bill Cafe and Captain Hook’s Galley. Also available during the special event will be a dessert that comes with a souvenir cup designed like a candy apple from a Japanese festival and a dessert that comes with a souvenir plate designed like a chocolate banana treat. And at Restaurant Hokusai, Guests ordering the special menu featuring colorful Special Set 1,940 yen Available at chirashi-zushi can take home a pair of souvenir chopsticks. DECORATIONS The decorations in World Bazaar and around the Plaza, from the banners and parasols with Japanese elements in their designs to the traditional lanterns and more, will enhance the ambience of a Disney-style summer festival. At the center of World Bazaar, a platform will be set up for the first time and will feature a figure of Mickey Mouse beating on a large Japanese drum while the broomsticks from the Disney film Photo Location in World Bazaar Fantasia hold an “uchiwa” fan in one hand as they “dance” around the platform. One photo location set up in the Plaza in front of Cinderella Castle will show Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck playing Japanese flutes. Another photo location will feature Donald Duck and Goofy playing a Japanese drum. Guests can pose like the Disney Characters for a unique keepsake photo.

OTHER ELEMENTS Set up at the Plaza Terrace will be a variety of booths that add to the festival atmosphere. At the booth for the “Gara-Gara Kuji” lottery game (500 yen for each attempt), Guests can win a cushion or a towel with an original design or an “uchiwa” fan. Other booths will offer “ramune” drinks and ice milk that come in packages with cute designs.

newest Disney film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, scheduled to be released in Japan on Saturday, July 1. As part of the program, Guests can try to solve the “Pirates Mystery” by searching for the three “treasures” from the latest film. All Guests experiencing the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction during the program period will receive a map that gives clues to the whereabouts of the “treasures.” Around the attraction will be decorations and an interactive photo location inspired by the film. Atmosphere entertainment by the Pirate Brass will add even more excitement, especially when Captain Jack Sparrow gets involved. The Blue Bayou Restaurant, Café Orléans and Royal Street Veranda will offer food and beverages inspired by the film. The shop, Pirate Treasure, will have merchandise based on the film as well.

New Version of Nighttime Parade Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights Performances start July 11, 2017 Venue: Parade Route Duration: About 45 minutes Performances: 1 Daily Since premiering in 2001, “Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights” has undergone three previous renovations making this the fourth renovation. Anna and Elsa, riding on a float designed like the icy castle from the Disney film Frozen, will be appearing in this parade for the first time. The unit representing the Disney film Cinderella will still have Cinderella riding on her pumpkin coach, but will add a float with Prince Charming waiting in the castle ballroom. After being retired in July 2011, the float for the Disney film Beauty and the Beast will return with even more sparkling LED lights. Altogether the new version of the popular nighttime parade will enhance the magic of Tokyo Disneyland even more after dark.

Summer at the Disney Hotels

The Disney Ambassador® Hotel and the Tokyo Disneyland® Hotel will offer special menus to go with the Tokyo Disneyland special event “Disney Natsu Matsuri.” Guests ordering the special dinner at Restaurant Hana (Japanese cuisine) at the Disney Ambassador Hotel can enjoy a special dessert that has a water balloon motif to give a feeling of surprise and coolness. At Sherwood Garden Restaurant, the buffet at the Tokyo , Guests can enjoy dishes just right for summer, including colorful bread inspired by cotton candy and water balloons. At the Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta®, Guests will be able to enjoy special menus inspired by the Tokyo DisneySea special event “Disney Pirates Summer.” Served at Silk Road Garden (Cantonese cuisine) will be a six-course lunch that features a plate representing a wild sea and a dessert scattered with black pearl tapioca.

Summer at the Disney Resort Line

The Disney Resort Line will offer day passes with two different designs, one inspired by the Tokyo Disneyland special event “Disney Natsu Matsuri” and the other by the Tokyo DisneySea special event “Disney Pirates Summer.”

Summer at Ikspiari

The summer event “Ikspiari Splash Town” will take place from July 21 through August 31, 2017. A lot of exciting experiences await Guests, including the “Splash Challenge” located in the Celebration Plaza on the second floor. When a Guest presses the “splash button” that has been set up there, a torrent of water will splash down from overhead. For children with summer project assignments, a variety of workshops held at Ikspiari will give just the help they need. Shops and restaurants in Ikspiari will offer items to help Guests stay cool and full of energy so that they can enjoy summer to the fullest.
