Goodbye and Good Luck! 2019 Year 6 Students Dear Parents and Caregivers

I take this opportunity to thank you for your support in ensuring 2019 was highly successful for all. It has been a year of significant pedagogical and organisational change with impressive outcomes for our students.

We feel very fortunate to have the outstanding support of a future focused, proactive School Board and a dedicated, hard working P&C who make significant contributions to the school to ensure the learning environment is the best it can be.

I am privileged to lead Wembley Primary School and be supported by a fabulous team of educators and support staff who work hard each and every day to offer the best learning experiences and service to your children. Tomorrow is the final siren for our Year 6 graduates and a number of staff. We wish them all well as they leave to pursue their goals and dreams. A very special farewell to our Deputy Principal Shane Stott, Music Specialist Mary-Anne Goyder and Canteen Manager Junell Jones.

Dear Graduating Class of 2019

Education is a gift and a lifelong journey and Wembley Primary School has given you an excellent learning pathway, supporting and empowering you to reach your limitless potential.

From little things, big things grow! I encourage you to reflect on all that you have learnt, who you have become and employ a growth mind set beyond our school gate. Be the best you can be and whenever the opportunity arises, I challenge you to be ‘extraordinary’. Set yourself high personal standards and do not compromise them.

As a collective group of student leaders you have led by example, upholding the school’s CARES values, and being great friends and role models to others. Your outstanding engagement in learning resulted in wonderful, enriching opportunities and excellence, at school and in the wider community.

Farewell and best of luck at high school. Wherever your future leads you, all of us here at Wembley Primary School will be supporting you.

‘You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.’ AA Milne

Future Careers in Science Last week our year 6 girls were addressed by our STEM Professionals in Schools Partner, Dr Asha Bowen. Asha encouraged the girls to consider the numerous career opportunities in the science fields and shared her journey and those of her friends.

It was a very insightful presentation and sparked curiosity amongst many. We look forward to seeing our WPS girls succeed in their chosen careers into the future. Destinations 2020 Balcatta Senior High School: Tshering, Norbu

...Shenton College Year 5 Team Building day at Shenton College

It’s Monday morning and the Year 5s are leaping aboard the buses with excitement, ready to depart to Shenton College.

On arrival, we were eager to see what the day had in store for us. We met Mr Bailey and Mr Forte and a cluster of Year 10 students, ready to coach us in a game we had never heard of called Baseball 5. We swiftly got into our teams and guided by our student coaches, we started training. The competition was looming. We weren’t as experienced as expected, but as the day progressed, we got the hang of it and were ready! Each round went for 15 minutes. We all played six teams. The competition was high but the teamwork was higher. Our coaches were supportive, and we learnt as we played. It got to the last round, two teams were undefeated. Could they stay this way? And yes they did. We all had an icy pole to celebrate the amazing teamwork displayed.

Participating in an experience like this with Shenton College students and teachers was a unique opportunity which we all enjoyed and treasured. We hope that this can continue for future Year 5s at Wembley Primary.

Thank you Shenton College for organising this amazing day for us!
