Media Release Contact: Dominic Hennig Director, Broadcasting & Communications February 16, 2016 [email protected] (810) 519-9347 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Larionov Headlines Late Additions to Red Wings/Generals Alumni Rosters Igor Larionov, Jiří Fischer, Jimmy Carson and Mike Rusin To Play in Flint this Friday Flint, Mich. – Igor Larionov, three-time Stanley Cup Champion with the Detroit Red Wings is one of four notable roster additions listed for the 2nd annual Red Wings vs. Generals Alumni game coming to Flint this Friday, Feb. 19. Joining Larionov is Stanley Cup Champion Jiří Fischer along with 50-goal scorer, Jimmy Carson, and long-time Flint Generals power forward Mike Rusin. Larionov, a Hall of Famer that played for the Detroit Red Wings for eight seasons from 1995- 2003, recorded a total of 644 points in 921 games played throughout his NHL career. Known as The Professor, Larionov spent eight seasons in Detroit. Jiri Fischer is still working within the Red Wings organization as the Director of Player Development after winning a Stanley Cup with Detroit in 2002. Fischer was a first round selection in the 1998 NHL Draft and tallied 60 points in six seasons with the Red Wings. Jimmy Carson was the second overall pick in the 1986 NHL Draft by Los Angeles and racked up an impressive 100 goals in four seasons with the Red Wings from 1989-1993. Carson earned a total of 561 points in nine seasons in the NHL and was the lead player in the infamous trade that brought Wayne Gretzky from Edmonton to Los Angeles. Mike Rusin played for the Flint Generals in the IHL from 1976-82. Known for his tough play, the playmaker earned 77 assists and nine goals in six seasons in Flint. Red Wings fan favorites Mickey Redmond and Joe Kocur will also skate for the NHL squad and will be joined by several significant Wings alumni including left winger Petr Klima, right wing and 50 goal-scorer, John Ogrodnick, right wing Brent Fedyk, center and 50 goal scorer, Jimmy Carson, center, Kevin Miller and goalie Eddie Mio. Red Wing legends Ted Lindsay and Alex Delvecchio will not participate on the ice but will meet and greet fans throughout the night on the Event Center concourse. Limited VIP (with hot hors d’oeuvres included) tickets are available for $60 and include reserved VIP seating, blue Line Club access and a private player meet and greet in the Event Center lobby immediately following the game.
