UMPIRES

There are a number of Umpires who may be available to officiate on behalf of Clubs in Cup-Ties (Also Saturday League games if not already officiating elsewhere). The Hon. General Secretary will be able to give names and contact numbers for them after which the Club should make direct contact with the person. Travelling expenses and / or fee should be determined and agreed between the parties before an appointment is confirmed. (see pages 100 & 101 for list of qualified umpires)

23 LEAGUE RULES

1. THE LEAGUE

1.1 The League shall be called the Darlington and District Cricket League.

1.2 The League shall consist of a number of divisions. Divisions shall have a maximum of 12 teams except for the lowest division. In the event that the lowest division has more than 12 teams then it may be split into two regional competitions.

1.3 From time to time, the League shall have a sponsor.

1.4.1 The Darlington and District Junior Cricket League is a Section of this League.

1.4.2 Junior Section Constitution.

The League shall organise junior cricket competitions and coaching to encourage junior cricket development and to bring more juniors into the sport of cricket.

The Darlington & District Cricket League shall be compliant with and actively promote the ECB Safe Hands Policy

Entry into junior competitions shall be open to all member clubs of the D&DCL. And other invitees

Entry fees for junior competitions will be set annually at the League AGM

The Executive Committee shall annually nominate a member of the Executive to be Junior Section Representative.

24 2. OFFICERS

2.1 The Officers shall be the President, Vice-President, Hon. General Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Assistant Secretary (Results/Registrations—Data Protection), Hon. Assistant Secretary (Administration), League Welfare Officer.

2.2.1 The Officers shall be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting.

2.2.2 If only one nomination for an Office is received, that nominee, subject to a Seconder, is automatically elected. If no nomination is received, the present holder, if he/she so wishes, will continue in Office.

2.A HON. LIFE VICE-PRESIDENTS AND THE ROLE OF HONOUR

2.A.1 An individual may be appointed an Honorary Life Vice-President, after retiring from Office, in recognition of valuable service to the League.

2.A.2 An appointment as an Honorary Life Vice-President shall be made at an Annual General Meeting only on the recommended nomination of the Executive Committee.

2.A.3 Honorary Life Vice-Presidents shall receive any papers issued to Members and shall be entitled to attend Management Committee and General Meetings but shall not have a vote.

2.A.4 The Executive Committee may recommend persons who have afforded the League great service over a period of time to be elected to the Roll of Honour by the Members at General Meeting.

25 3. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE - CONSTITUTION

3.1.1 There shall be an Executive Committee which shall consist of the Officers listed at Rule 2.1, together with eight other elected members.

3.1.2 Five members shall constitute a quorum.

3.2.1 The elected members, with not more than one per club, shall stand for three years. Two of these members shall retire each year but may offer themselves for re-election at the Annual General Meeting.

3.2.2 Should a further member or members, not having completed a three year tenure, be elected as an Officer, retire, resign or be removed from the Committee, then he/she / they shall be replaced by the individual(s) coming third (et seq.) in the ballot and be elected for the appropriate unexpired period.

3.3 If only one person is nominated, he/she, subject to a seconder, is automatically elected.

3.4 A decision concerning any Executive position left unfilled at the Annual General Meeting shall be made at the next subsequent Management Committee Meeting.

3.5.1 A representative from the Junior League may attend an Executive Committee Meeting in order that any matter of concern can be brought to notice.

3.5.2 The Junior League Secretary shall receive Notice of all meetings.

3.5.3 A representative from the Executive Committee shall attend the Junior League Meetings.

4. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE - RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1 The Executive Committee is:-

4.1.1 responsible to the Management Committee

4.1.2 has the right to submit proposals to the Annual General Meeting.

4.1.3 empowered to call an extra-ordinary General Meeting at any time when necessary.

4.1.4 to deal with disciplinary matters or disputes.

4.1.5 to impose fines or penalties for breach of Rules.

4.1.6 to inspect the grounds of applicant Clubs or, when complaints are received, of existing Clubs.

4.1.7 to appoint Umpires for the Semi-Finals and Finals of all the League Cup Competitions.

4.1.8 to select teams and organise representative matches (See Rule 17.1).

4.1.9 to deal with any other matters concerning the well-being of the League.

4.2 The elected members of the Executive Committee have the right to attend Management Committee Meetings and the Annual General Meeting.

4.4 If a vote is tied, in addition to his normal vote, the Chairman of the Meeting (usually the President) shall have a casting vote.

4.5 The day to day management of the League is dealt with by the Hon. General Secretary as directed by the Executive Committee.

5. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE - CONSTITUTION

5.1 The Management Committee Meetings of the League shall consist of:- a] two delegates from each Club in the League; b] the Officers (See Rule 2.1) c] one non voting Representative from the Teesside Umpires Association d] one non voting Representative from the Junior League. The six elected members of the Executive Committee may also attend.

5.2 Representatives from Twelve Clubs shall form a quorum.

5.3 Each team and each Officer has one vote.

5.4 If a vote is tied, in addition to his normal vote, the Chairman of the Meeting (usually the President) shall have a casting vote.

5.5 Clubs not represented shall be fined.

5.6 The Junior League Secretary shall receive papers applicable to Management Committee Meetings.

6. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

6.1 An Annual General Meeting shall be held in November.

6.2 Rule 5 in relation to the Management Committee Meetings applies equally to the Annual General Meeting.

28 6.3.1 Notification of nominations, new or changes of Rule proposals or applications for membership, in writing, shall be in the hands of the Hon. General Secretary thirty-five (35) days before the Meeting.

6.3.2 Details of the Agenda shall be sent to Clubs at least twenty one (21) days before the Meeting.

6.3.3 Proposals placed on the Agenda may not be reworded or deleted but voted upon as they stand.

6.4.1 All applications for admission into the League, for full membership after probation, proposals for new or alterations to Rules or any other matter of policy, shall require two-thirds of the votes cast, to be accepted.

6.4.2 The election of the Officers and other Officials and any decision on non-policy matters shall be by simple majority.

6.4.3 If a vote is tied, in addition to his normal vote, the Chairman of the Meeting (usually the President) shall have a casting vote on matters to be decided by a simple majority.

6.5 The Junior League Secretary shall receive papers for the Annual General Meeting.

7. NON-VOTING

7.1 Representatives of Clubs shall not be allowed to vote on questions arising out of protests in which their Clubs are involved.

29 8. MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS

8.1.1 Any new Club applying to enter the League can only be voted into the `C' Division of the League at the Annual General Meeting for an initial probationary period of twelve months.

8.1.2 Probationary membership will be granted, upon application, for a maximum period of three years.

8.1.3 A Club holding Probationary membership must make application, in writing, to the Hon. General Secretary for Full Membership under Rule 6.3.1.

9.0 LEAGUE STRUCTURE

9..1.1 The bottom two teams from the relevant Divisions will be relegated to the next lower Division each year.

9.1.2 In the case where the lowest division comprises of two regional competitions, the top team in each regional competition shall qualify for promotion. .

9.1.3 If a vacancy arises in a Division because of a team resignation then, for the purpose of relegation, only the bottom Club in that Division shall be relegated. Any furtherance of the relegation procedure will be dealt with by the Executive Committee.

9.2.1 The composition of the A division shall be decided first, followed by the composition of successively lower Divisions.

9.2.2 No Club shall have more than one team in any one Division.

9.2.3 If a side due for promotion / relegation can not move due to Rule 9.2.2, no other side will be promoted or relegated in their place. 30 9.3 For the determination of position in any Division, where teams tie on points, advantage will go to the team with the most number of wins. If still a tie, advantage will go to the team with the best ratio of runs scored divided by wickets lost minus runs scored against divided by wickets taken.

9.4 In the case where the lowest division comprises of two regional competitions, the division champion shall be the team in the two regional competitions with the most points. Where the two regional competition winners tie on points, rule 9.3 applies.

9.5 In the case that the lowest division has more than 12 teams, the structure of that division will be proposed by the Executive Committee and confirmed by the Management Committee at least 10 weeks before commencement of the season

10. FINANCE

10.1 The Financial Year shall end on 30th September of each year.

10.2 The Hon. Treasurer is responsible for the handling of all monies and the financial accounting of the League.

10.3 An Accounts Examiner shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.

10.4 A printed statement of the examined Accounts together with the Hon. Treasurer's Report shall be presented at the Annual General Meeting.

10.5 The Executive Committee, on the advice of the Hon. Treasurer, shall have the authority to invest funds in such a manner as their sole discretion thinks fit.

10.6 Insurance cover for the League shall be obtained by the Executive Committee on advice from the Hon. Treasurer.

31 10.7 The Clubs, themselves, must obtain their own Insurance cover, including cover for League Trophies in their possession.

11. SUBSCRIPTIONS

11.1 Membership subscriptions to the League and other fees are to be paid to the Hon. Treasurer before 1st April each year.

11.2 The subscription rates are to be reviewed at the Annual General Meeting. (Current rates will be published in the Annual Handbook)

12. DISCIPLINE

12.1.1 All disciplinary matters in any way connected with the League, or the conduct of matches or tournaments played under the auspices of the League, shall be dealt with in accordance with the English Cricket Board Model Disciplinary Rules", as amended by this League.

12.1.2 The Model Disciplinary Rules, as amended by this League, together with the ECB Code of Conduct and Spirit of Cricket, shall be deemed to be incorporated with and form part of these League Rules. They shall prevail over any of the League's Rules which may overlap or be in conflict with the provision of such "Model Rules", Code of Conduct and Spirit of Cricket.

12.1.3 These Disciplinary Rules also cover Clubs, who are constituent members of this League, when participating in other competitions not under the auspices of the League.

12.1.4 Should these Rules be amended by the ECB during the current lifetime of the Rule Book, then such amendment shall be deemed to be immediately incorporated within the Rules. Any disciplinary action taken shall be completed within these amended Rules. 32

12.2.1. Written objections / complaints must be forwarded to the Hon. General Secretary within 10 days of the incident in question.

12.2.2. Notification that an objection / complaint is to be submitted must reach the Hon. General Secretary within 3 days of the incident in question.

12.2.3. Written objections or complaints shall only be submitted by a Club or an Umpire who has been appointed for the whole of a game.

12.3.1 The Disciplinary Committee of the League shall consist of three of the elected members of the Executive Committee, none of whom shall be connected with the player, the club or their opponents at the time of the alleged breach.

12.3.2 The League Vice-President, or other officer of the league, shall act as a non-voting Chairman at any disciplinary hearing.

12.3.3 The Hon. General Secretary, or other officer of the league, shall attend disciplinary hearings to record the proceedings and advise on procedure. He/she does not have a vote.

12.4.1 The Disciplinary Appeals Committee of the League shall consist of three of the elected members of the Executive Committee and/or the officers of the league, who did not attend the original hearing and none of whom shall be connected with the player, the club or their opponents at the time of the alleged breach

12.4.2 The League President, or other officer of the league, shall act as Chairman at any appeals hearing. The chairman shall have a vote and where necessary a casting vote.

33 12.4.3 The Hon. General Secretary, or other officer of the league, shall attend appeals hearings to record the proceedings and advise on procedure. He/she does not have a vote.

13. GROUNDS

13.1 All grounds of teams in the League, in addition to satisfying normal requirements, must be cut to the boundaries regularly throughout the season

13.2 Artificial pitches shall not be used for League Matches in the `A' Division.

13.3 All Clubs must carry out end of season square restoration works.

14. FIXTURES

14.1 Clubs must advise the Hon. General Secretary at the Annual General Meeting of any particular dates that they require to be at home or away in the next season.

14.2 Fixtures shall be available to all Clubs at the end of January.

14.3.1 There shall be no re-arrangement of fixtures after the end of January. [see Rule 14.3.2.]

14.3.2 If an unforeseen valid reason occurs after the January meeting, exceptionally, the Executive Committee may consider a request for alterations to the Fixture List. Sufficient notice would need to be given to enable the Committee to convene.

34 15 PARTICIPATION

15.1 Only bona-fide members of Clubs may play and no player shall play for more than one Club in the League.

15.2.1 All players are to be registered with the Data Protection Officer.

15.2.2 Registrations of players continue from one season to the next. They do not lapse at the end of a season. (See Rule 16.1.1 regarding changes)

15.2.3 Amendments to a Club’s Registration List, other than Transfers (see Rule 16) are to be notified to the Hon. Assistant Secretary (Results/Registrations) as they occur.

15.3 A Junior player participating in the affiliated Darlington and District Junior Cricket League does not need to be registered until he plays for one of the senior teams in this League.

16. TRANSFERS

16.1 A player wishing to move from one Member Club to another Member Club must have a Transfer Form completed by the receiving Club.

16.2.1 The receiving Club must submit the fully completed Transfer Form, signed by the transferring player, to the Hon. Assistant Secretary (Results/Registrations) without delay.

16.2.2 The receiving Club must notify the leaving Club of the proposed transfer at the same time.

35 16.3 On receipt of a completed transfer request the Hon. Assistant Secretary (Results/Registrations) will check with the leaving Club before approving the transfer.

16.4 The transfer of a player may only be refused by the leaving Club if the player in question has an outstanding financial liability to that Club or is subject to Disciplinary Proceedings by that Club.

16.5 No player in the process of transfer proceedings may play for any League Club side until the Hon. Assistant Secretary (Results/Registrations) has informed the receiving Club.

16.6 No transfer shall be approved after the fourteenth published League fixture (based on the “A” Division each season).

16.7 Any Club guilty of violating any part of this Rule shall be fined and be liable to forfeit points.

17. REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES

17.1 The selection of the teams for Representative matches shall be undertaken by the Executive Committee without nominations being requested.

17.1.1 A Club may notify the name of any player it wishes to bring to the notice of the Executive Committee.

17.2 All Club Secretaries and the selected players will be informed of the selections made.

18 PLAYING CONDITIONS

18.1.1 The most recent published version of the Laws of Cricket shall be adhered to where no local rules apply. 36 18.1.2 Special Playing Conditions are shown at Appendix “A” to these Rules.

18.1.3 The 5-penalty runs concept brought into force in the 2000 Code will not apply within the Darlington & District League.

18.2.1 Cancellation of a game due to unfit ground conditions shall be the sole right of the home Club. If the 2 Captains cannot agree at the time of the toss then the match is cancelled.

18.2.2 Any Team conceding their away fixture must do so before 10.00 am on the morning of the fixture, otherwise they must pay for 11 teas to the home Club.

18.2.7 Contact from a home team to cancel a match must be made via personal contact with an appropriate representative from the opposing side. Answer-phone and text messages are NOT acceptable

18.3.1 All matches shall be decided on a one innings each side basis.

18.3.2 Any Club with two teams finding themselves able to turn out only one team on a given day must play the higher Division fixture and concede the fixture in the lower Division.

18.3.3 In the case of a team conceding a fixture, the opponents will be awarded 20 points.

18.4.1 Matches shall commence with the first ball bowled at 2.00pm except September when games will start at 1.30pm.

18.4.2 Games will be of forty overs per side.

37 18.4.3 If prevailing weather conditions cause a delayed start then the overs will be reduced for each side by one over every ten (10) minutes the game is delayed. The latest possible start to a game will be 4:30pm (4:00pm in September), (25 Overs )

18.4.6 No bowler to be allowed to bowl more than 25% of the overs in any league game

18.5.1 The toss must be made by the Captain or his representative 15 minutes before the game is scheduled to start.

18.5.2 If a Captain or his representative is not ready to toss by the designated time, he forfeits the right to toss.

18.6 The interval between innings shall be no longer than thirty minutes.

18.7.1 Each team shall bowl with its own ball. The ball shall be as agreed by the League Management Committee

18.7.2 The League will bulk purchase the agreed ball at Rule 18.7.1 on the basis of Club requirements.

18.8.1 The team with the highest number of runs scored at the end of the agreed number of overs shall be the winner.

18.8.2 Should the scores be level at the end of the agreed number of overs, the result shall be a tie.

18.8.3 The Captains shall be responsible for the scores.

18.9.1 A team shall be awarded 20 points for a win.

38 18.9.2 A non-winning team may earn up to ten bonus points. A winning side cannot earn bonus points.

18.9.3 In an abandoned match where the side batting second batted a minimum of 20 overs, 5 points shall be awarded to each side, plus any bonus points either side may have gained.

18.9.4 In any other abandoned, drawn or cancelled match, each side shall be awarded 2 points plus any bonus points gained.

18.9.5 If the result of a game is a tie [see Rule 18.8.2] each side shall be awarded 8 points plus any bonus points that may have been earned.

18.9.6 Batting Bonus Points - A non-winning side shall be awarded 1 bonus point for reaching each of the following scores, 100, 120, 140, 160 and 180.

18.9.7 Bowling Bonus Points - A non-winning side shall be awarded 1 bonus point for taking each of the following number of wickets 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10.

18.9.8 If an under strength side is dismissed, the bowling side shall be awarded 5 bowling points irrespective of the number of wickets taken. The score will be reported as 'all out'.

18.10.1 Any game not commenced by 4:30pm, (4:00pm in September), is to count as a draw.

18.10.2 Abandonment and cancellation due to inclement weather is to count as a draw.

18.10.3 If play, having been suspended, has not recommenced by 7.00 pm (6:30pm in September), or if play in progress is suspended after this time, the match is to be abandoned and count as a draw.

19. UMPIRES

19.1.1 Competent umpires are to be provided by both sides. A side may not object to a provided non-playing umpire standing if he/she is a level 1, qualified umpire or has attended the Introduction to Umpiring Course. Such umpires who stand throughout the game will be able submit complaints / reports under rule 12.2.3

19.1.2 From time to time the league executive may appoint an um- pire or umpires to officiate in games. Such umpires will stand throughout the game and will be able submit complaints / reports under rule 12.2.3

19.2 If an Umpire is not available then team members may umpire at the discretion of the Captains.

19.3 Once an Umpire has been accepted by the Captains, the remainder of both teams must abide by this.

19.4 Umpires shall ascertain, before the toss, details of any Junior players in a team.

20 RESULTS

20.1.1 The result of Saturday matches (including cancelled games) is to be notified, by the Home side, from 10.00am onwards. Deadline for results is 9.00 pm on the match day.

40 20.1.2 Full scores of all Saturday matches must be telephoned to the “Sunday Sun” newspaper no later than 9.00 pm on the Saturday by each home “A” and “B” Division team (Telephone: 01642 715394). Failure to do so will result in a fine of £5.00 being imposed.

20.1.3 The result of matches played other than on Saturdays is to be telephoned by the Home side to the Hon. Assistant Secretary (Results/Registrations) on the day of the match.

20.1.4 Results of “C” Division matches shall also be telephoned to the “Sunday Sun” (Telephone: 01642 715394) by the home team at the time stated on 20.1.2.

20.1.5 A result sheet shall be completed for every League Organised fixture (League and Cup). These result sheets, naming every player Representing both sides, must be posted to the Hon. Assistant Secretary (Results/ Registrations), to arrive within 7 days, after completion of the fixture. (A Two point deduction to be imposed for non-compliance)

20.2 Published results shall be taken to be correct - unless the Hon. Assistant Secretary (Results/Registrations) is notified otherwise - within seven days of their publication.

21. ADMINISTRATION

21.1 Any club deliberately contravening Rules or not upholding the high traditions of the League, or whose ground or team falls below standards expected, shall be liable to be expelled from the League on a two-thirds majority vote.

21.2.1 Knock-out Competitions shall be held each season for teams in each Division.

21.2.2 There shall be a League Knock-out Competition for Clubs each season. This will be for the “Cec Leece Trophy”.

21.3.1 The League Championship Trophies for all Divisions shall be presented not later than the last scheduled League match of the season, providing circumstances permit.

21.3.2 The successful Clubs must make adequate provision for the safe-keeping of the Championship Trophies whilst in their possession.

21.3.3 The successful Clubs must return Trophies safely and in good condition to the President of the League, or his nominee, upon request. [This will be within at least three weeks before the end of the season.]

21.3.4 The holder must ensure that the Trophy is suitably engraved.

21.3.5 Clubs winning League Competitions must ensure that the Trophies are suitably insured whilst in their possession.

21.4 Clubs are not allowed to pay match fees or travelling expenses for players.

21.5 The Annual General Meeting will decide on the price of all teas. Visiting teams are to pay for eleven players' teas. (See Annual Handbook for the current rate).

42 22. RESIGNATION FROM THE LEAGUE

22.1 A Club or team wishing to resign from this League with the intention of joining another League MUST give notice, in writing, to the Hon General Secretary in the season prior to the proposed change. [Yorkshire Clubs by 30th April ; Durham Clubs by 30th June]

23. DISSOLUTION

23.1 The League shall not be dissolved except at an Extra-Ordinary General Meeting of the League specially convened for the purpose, at which the vote in favour of the resolution comprises at least three quarters of the votes cast.

23.2 In the event of such dissolution, any assets shall be donated to The Cricket Foundation.

24. SPECIAL NOTES

24.1.1 Fixtures at Raby Castle

Any person attending a fixture at Raby Castle on any SUNDAY or on the SATURDAY or MONDAY of a BANK HOLIDAY weekend MUST show either his/her Club's Fixture Card or the League Handbook to obtain admission. Failure to produce either of these documents will result in those persons having to pay for admission to the Park or being refused entry . CUP COMPETITIONS All teams will take part in their Divisional Knock-out Competition.

All Clubs will take part in the Club Knockout Competition.

Entry to the AP Croskell Memorial Competition is optional. 43 ALL games will be played under the Laws of Cricket and any guidelines applicable at the time of the fixture ALL Clubs in ALL matches shall adhere to the ECB Code of Conduct and Spirit of Cricket, ECB Bowling Directives, Safety Guidance on the Wearing of Cricket Helmets by Young Players and ECB recommendations for Junior Cricket, Juniors Playing in Adult Cricket and Fielding Regulations unless previously amended within these Rules.

Any penalty imposed by the Darlington & District Cricket league shall be notified to the relevant Boards of Yorkshire County Cricket and Durham County Cricket and other Leagues within those bodies and any penalty imposed by any of those bodies shall be equally binding on the Darlington & District Cricket League.

67 KNOCK-OUT CUP COMPETITION RULES

1. PARTICIPATION

1.1 “All Clubs in Membership of the Darlington and District Cricket League will take part in the Competition”

2. AUTHORITY

2.1 The Executive Committee will deal with all matters arising from the Competition and its decision on all questions shall be final.

3. ELIGIBILITY

3.1 Only bona-fide members of competing Clubs may play and no player shall play in the Competitions for more than one Club.

3.2 A player who plays (or who has played) in the current season for another Club in another Saturday League, on a Saturday, is NOT eligible to play in the Competitions.

3.3 Where Second XI's are concerned, players are not eligible to participate in the “B” or “C” Division Competitions, as applicable, if they have played in the First XI on more than a specific number of occasions (see Appendix to these Knock-Out Cup Competition Rules).

3.4 If a player is transferred under League rule 16, the number of First XI games played in the current season moves with him to his new Club. This is only effective if he has not already played for a Club in any of the Knock-Out Cup Competitions in the current season.

68 4. PLAYING CONDITIONS

4.1 All the games, including Finals, shall be played on dates fixed by the Executive Committee.

4.2.1 All ties including the Final shall be of twenty six ball overs, to commence by 6.30 pm.

4.2.2 Finals to commence by 6.00 pm or, if played on a Sunday, at 3.00 pm

4.2.3 If a team is not ready to commence play fifteen minutes before the stipulated starting time then it shall relinquish the right to toss.

4.2.4 The number of overs may be reduced if it is mutually agreed that conditions make this desirable.

4.2.5 Clubs must bowl with their own ball. The ball make shall be as agreed by the League Management Committee.

4.2.6 No Player to bowl more than 25% of the overs in each innings of the game in any round the competition

4.3.1 All games played up to the Finals shall be played on the grounds of competing Clubs.

4.3.2 The advantage of playing at home shall be decided by the draw.

4.3.3 The Finals shall be played on grounds selected by the Executive Committee

4.4.1 The side scoring the most runs shall be the winner. If scores are level at the end of the game the side losing the least number of wickets shall be the winner. If this be the same, the game shall be counted as a tie.

4.4.2 In the event of a tie, a replay shall be held on the ground of the original away team.

4.5.1 In the event of the game not being completed it shall be recommenced altogether on a new date to be fixed.

4.5.2 The fixture must be decided by no later than seven days after the original date set for the fixture. [Priority shall be given to this League’s Competitions.]

4.5.3 In the event of the Captains having "tossed up" for the choice of innings and the game being unable to be started or completed for any reason, the Captains shall again "toss up" on the re-arranged date.

4.5.4 If a tie cannot be completed within the stipulated seven day period, it shall be decided by the toss of a coin.

4.5.5 Where a Club fails to fulfil a tie it shall be fined and the tie awarded to the opposing team.

4.6 Artificial pitches are not to be used for League Cup matches in the `A' Division.

5. RESULTS

5.1 The result of all ties must be notified to The Hon. Assistant Secretary (Results/Registrations) by the winning team upon conclusion of the match or, in writing, within 24 hours of the tie being played.

70 6. UMPIRES

6.1 Umpires will be appointed for all Semi-Finals and Finals by the Executive Committee.

7. SAFE-KEEPING OF CUPS

7.1 The successful Club must make adequate provision for the safe-keeping of the Cup (including the 'A' Division Man of the Match Shield) and “A” and “B” Runners-up trophy, as appropriate, whilst in its possession and it must be returned safely and in good condition to the President of the League upon request.

7.2 The holder must ensure that the Trophy is suitably engraved.

7.3 Rules 7.1 and 7.2 apply equally to the League Knock-Out Cup, it’s Runners-up Trophy and Man of the Match award).

Appendix to KO Cup Competition Rules

“No player shall be eligible for selection in the B or C division cup competitions for their club`s 2nd team, if by the date the cup fixture is played, they have taken part in 50% or more of their first team`s league matches that have been played at that point in time.

This includes any league games started, but not played to a finish due to intervention by the weather, but does NOT include games abandoned without a ball bowled.”

84 AP CROSKELL MEMORIAL CUP - 15/15 COMPETITION

1. PARTICIPATION 1.1 The Competition is open to all teams in membership of the Darlington and District Cricket League.

2. AUTHORITY 2.1 The Executive Committee will deal with all matters arising from the Competition and its decision on all questions shall be final. 2.2 The Rules for the League Knock-out Competition apply to this Competition except where they are at variance with these particular AP Croskell Memorial Trophy rules.

3. ELIGIBILITY 3.1 No player is allowed to play for more than one team in the Competition. 3.2 A player who plays (or who has played) in the current season for another Club in another Saturday League, on a Saturday, is NOT eligible to play in the Competition.

4. PLAYING CONDITIONS 4.1 All matches, up to but not including the Semi Final / Final Day, are to commence by 6.30 pm and played by the dates fixed by the Executive Committee. 4.2 The competition will be of 11 players each and will be run from the end of June to the middle of August.

The semi finals and final will be played on a Sunday as a finals day. 4.4 Matches are to be played home and away during the group stages The Semi Finals / Final, will be played on a ground to be decided by the Executive Committee. 4.4.1 Groups will be of a maximum 5 teams, with each team playing each other once. .4.5 All rounds, including the, are to be of fifteen SIX ball overs per innings.

4.6 Bowlers may only bowl a maximum of 3 overs. 4.7 Fielding Restriction, there will be a ring marked with white discs, which will 50% of the shortest distance from the wicket being played on to boundary. 4.7.1 The first 3 overs of each innings shall be ‘Power play Overs’, with no more than 2 players allowed outside the fielding circle 4.7.2 The remaining 12 overs of each innings there shall be no more than 4 players allowed outside the fielding circle. 4.8 Clubs must bowl with their own ball. The ball make shall be as agreed by the League Management Committee. 4.9 A wicket keeper is to be nominated by the fielding side before play commences and must wear normally accepted wicket-keeping protective equipment. The wicket keeper is not allowed to bowl.

86 4.10 The Wicket keeper must field in a normally accepted wicket-keeping position (See Laws of Cricket 2000 Code Law 40.1) 4.11 Points for the group stages of the competition, 3 pts for a win, 2pts for a tie and 1pt for a cancelled fixture. 4.12 The side scoring the most runs shall be the winner. However, if scores are level at the end of the game, then the side losing the least number of wickets shall be the winner. If this be the same, the game shall be decided by a super over, one over each team with the team scoring most runs and losing fewer wickets shall be the winners. 4.13 The Captains will "toss up" for the choice of innings at the start of every match.

5. RESULT 5.1 The result of all ties must be notified to the Hon. Assistant Secretary (Results/Registrations) Officer by the home team by telephone or E-mail upon conclusion of the match or, in writing, within twenty-four hours of it being played.
