Role and Responsibilities Pre-Employment Requirements

The role of Airport Operations is divided up into three main  Full, clean B driving licence, held for a minimum of areas as outlined below 12 months  Complete Aviation Firefighter medical and fitness Airport Operations assessment including drugs test  Hold the right to live and work in the Republic of Aviation Security  Complete Garda vetting – Security back ground Airport Fire and Rescue check required for persons seeking employment in the aviation sector Employment Information

 Employment contract 12 months Selection Process  Average working week 33 hours

 Available to work shifts including split shifts, weekends  Process of applications forms and public holidays  Aptitude test  Rosters are based on flight schedules and shifts will vary  Selection for interview based on aptitude test between the following opening hours 0500 to midnight  Interview process  Must be able to extend shift to cover delayed or altered  Medical flights  Job Offer  Requirement for personnel to be rostered on pager duty to support Search & Rescue helicopter operations Post-Employment Requirements outside of opening hours  Pager duties requires personnel to reside within 30  Obtain a full C driving licence minutes response time of Waterford Airport  Complete the relevant training elements as  Waterford Airport operates 365 days of the year outlined in Airport Operations, Ramp Handling, Aviation Security and Aviation Fire and Rescue to Education obtain the required certification

 Good general education, including Leaving Certificate Medical Requirements (or equivalent) - Pass in English and Mathematics  English Language Proficiency – All personnel who  Good all round health and mobility operate airside must have fluent English for radio  Good unaided vision communication with Air Traffic Services  Normal colour vision  Normal hearing  Not subject to vertigo/claustrophobia  No history of epilepsy  No history of asthma

Airport Operations consist of the day to day running of Waterford Airport and is one of the most physically demanding jobs at the airport. The role includes all aspects of Airport Operations such as aircraft marshalling, the Airport Operations coordination of aircraft loading and baggage handling, application of ground power and aircraft start-up.

Staff will operate outside in all weather conditions and this role requires great attention to health and safety.

Role – Airfield Operations

 Airfield Inspections – ensuring that a safe and efficient operation is maintained on the manoeuvring area  Bird and wildlife management  Airfield lighting checks and maintenance  Weather briefing and flight planning  Building Maintenance including building cleaning and up keep  Grassland maintenance – including grass cutting and weed spraying  Winter Operations which include de-icing of aircraft and the removal of snow/ice within the , taxiways and ramps

Role and Responsibilities – Ground Handling

 Aircraft marshalling  Aircraft start-up  Aircraft ground power – ensure that the correct power supply to the aircraft from ground power units  Baggage handling and sorting  Aircraft Cleaning  Aircraft Catering  To provide assistance to disabled passengers getting on and off aircraft  Aircraft meet and great (private and executive aircraft)  Aircraft refuelling including fuel quality and quantity control

Airport Operations Personnel play a vital role in airport security, which has become a significant priority in recent years, as well as making sure that all of our customers have a good experience when they travel. Aviation Security This critical role involves anything from searching customers and items they are carrying, through to operating x-ray equipment and observing screens, patrolling the airport site to identifying potential threats, and making sure any emergency evacuations happen efficiently and effectively

Responsibilities

 Providing excellent customer service  Passenger screening including searching passengers and their hand baggage  Screening of Hold Baggage  Control airport access points  Patrolling restricted and public areas  Screening unattended or suspicious items  Screening of vehicles and goods

Training Requirements

 Personnel are required to pass a security screener training course and obtain and maintain a valid certificate as an aviation security screener.

Airport Operations personnel employed by Waterford Airport are specifically trained to deal with potential aircraft emergencies. After completing the initial three week training as a trainee Fire Fighter, individuals move on to be a qualified Airport Fire Fighter. Airport Fire Service Responsibilities

 To respond to any emergency involving aircraft or property  To assist in fire prevention duties within airport premises  Inspection, testing and maintenance of rescue and fire equipment  To attend training courses as required to obtain and maintain the necessary qualifications as an Airport Fire Fighter

Training Required

 Complete three week Airport Fire Fighter training course which includes the following modules:-

Internal Fires Incidents Involving Helicopters Freight Aircraft Military Aircraft Fuel Tankers and Bulk Storage Vessels Tactics & Techniques – Undercarriages Fire Extinguishing Media Inspection and Testing of Equipment Hydraulics Aircraft Construction Teamwork and Communications Aircraft Firefighting – Tactics & Techniques Aviation Fuels and Fuel Tanks Fire Service Equipment (Hose, Branches, Hydrants) Aircraft

Rescue – Specialist Equipment Communications Aircraft Engines Post Incident Considerations BA Command and Control Working in Hot and Humid Atmospheres Working in Smoke Safe & Competent Use of BA BA General Check – Don and start up – servicing Physiology of Respiration Cylinders Emergency Procedures for BA Wearers
